[Solved] Getting The Application Menu Link To Work In Ubuntu

Postby neato » Sun Apr 01, 2012 12:19 pm

Hi All,

I had the problem of the link to run TonidoSync in the Ubuntu application menu not working because the library path did not permanently include the /usr/local/tonidosync directory. Therefore, every time I wanted to run tonido sync I had to open a terminal window, export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. and then run tonidosync in the background. I finally got around this by doing the following (as suggested by WW at http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-466808.html):

1) create the file /etc/ld.so.conf.d/local.conf

Code: Select all

sudo touch /etc/ld.so.conf.d/local.conf

2) add the the following line of text to the local.conf file you created

Code: Select all

3) Then run the ldconfig command. (This assumes that the file /etc/ld.so.conf contains the line "include /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf" without the quotes)

Code: Select all

sudo ldconfig

The application menu link should now work.
