iOS 8 and iPad

Postby Swcng2001 » Mon Sep 22, 2014 9:55 pm

Ever since upgrading to iOS 8, the "Open With" feature crashes Tonido on my iPad 2 when reading large files. This was not a problem with iOS 7.

I am running v7.0 and the server version on my Mac is 5.80.0.26973.

The files I am dealing with are .pdf with sizes larger than about 25MB. I can "Download" and "View" them with Tonido. Smaller files (2 - 15MB) seem to work, though the whole process seems much slower than before. I have about 10GB of memory still available on my iPad, so this does not appear to be the cause.

I deleted the Tonido app from my iPad and reinstalled it again after discovering this problem, but it did not help.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for reporting, We will check this out (we have a build already submitted to appstore to fix the media sync issue with iOS) so this will go in the next maintenance update.

Is there any progress on this problem? Just in case my post was not clear - I can download .pdf files from my Mac. I can then view and open files in another app. However, if the file is larger than about 25MB, I cannot view them in Tonido or open them in another app. Tonido crashes!

This is really limiting what I can do on my iPad. This was never a problem with iOS 7. With the upgrade to iOS 8, this problem surfaced and it is still not fixed in ios 8.1.

The last update was for 8.1 for media sync. We have this in our list for the next update.

Just to be clear,

Files larger than 25MBs require you to first download and then use the open with feature from the "This Device" location. Are you seeing problems with "Open With" feature on files less than 25MB?

EDIT: After looking at this issue, it looks like iOS8 has a known problem with UIDocumentInteractionController (Which is mechanism to open with an external app). So we will have to see what fix is available in order to apply.
