Install TonidoSync on Ubuntu 16.10

Postby JustinLewis » Tue Jan 24, 2017 1:06 am

I downloaded TonidoSync from the downloads page and extracted it to it's own folder in my home directory.
I try to run tonidosyncstart.sh and nothing happens. Nothing shows up in ps -aux for tonido and I don't get any error messages.

ldd on tonidosync2 returns:
libpng12.so.0 => not found

I have libpng16.16 installed, version 1.6.25-1 and same version of libpng-tools

What should I do?

I'm having problems as well running TonidoSync on Ubuntu. I type the following command and nothing happens:
sudo ./tonidosyncstart.sh start

Here is my ldd feedback from the terminal:

ldd tonidosync2

Hi,

We tried with your steps. TonidoSync starts fine. Please check if the sync icon appears at the top right.

If its not working, please download the libpng file found in previous reply.

Tried it again. Nothing happened. No sync icon in top right.

Once I download and extract the file, what do I do with it?

After download, then extract.

then,
Go to terminal ,
go to the downloads folder,
go to the folder where you have extracted the files
run the command ./tonidosyncstart.sh start

this should start tonidosync.

Sync icon would appear in top right corner.

tonidosyncstart.sh assumes that the working directory is the directory of the script (which is not always the case if you get some automated process to run it).

Add the following line to the top of tonidosyncstart.sh to resolve the issue of not starting when running the script:

cd "${0%/*}"

This will just set the working directory to the directory of the script, so it will find everything properly, since working directory is assumed. This should really be added to the release version by default.

Ok so this is no longer working again. I have cd "${0%/*}" still at the top of my .sh file. Really nothing has changed at all. Sync has just stopped working (or maybe the icon just stopped showing up in the top right corner?) Have no clue what happened.
