Customize installation

Postby danieleklund » Tue Jan 27, 2015 7:18 am

Hi,

Is it possible to do a customized installation of FileCloud Sync? Do you have a .msi-package?

We want to push out the installation but we want to be able to;

1. Change the default sync folder location without doing it manually (specify a static sync folder location for all the users that is set upon installation)

We've found this path in the syncclientconfig.xml, can we just copy that into a new users installation folder and it will use that folder automatically (even on the first start of the program)?

2. Change the FileCloud Sync Server URL to our url (specify our URL so that the user won't need to do that)

3. Automatically add a network folder to sync without the user needing to go to More options - Backup and other settings - Network Folders?

4. This is a long shot but is it possible to also specify account and password so that it's entered upon installation and the user wont need to enter their info?

Is any of this possible to do?

Yes. that will work.

Currently, there is no support for that. I guess we could add it as a feature enhancement to specify default server url in the syncclientconfig.xml similar to the path.

This is slightly more involved. This would come under automatic provisioning support which we don't have at this time.

This is unlikely to happen I would think because of various security issues with storing passwords etc.
