Tonido Sync: Failed to Login! repeatedly

I am running Windows 8.1 and repeatedly getting an error bubble from the task bar "Tonido Sync Failed to Login!". It happens about every 5 seconds or so and is very distracting.

Please note that I have been running Tonido sync successfully for at least 4 months on this particular laptop and did not change either the server or the TonidoSync client. The failures just started randomly happening.

I have used a browser from the same machine and logged into my Tonido server using the same user name and password combination. The browser comes up fine.

When I go to the settings page to try to re-enter the password to make sure it is correct, I get an error:
Failed to connect to server. Verify that the software is running.

If I go to the log found in:
C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\TonidoSyncData\client

I see these messages:

I am not sure if they are related.

Any idea on what to do next?

Is this laptop running sync in the same network as Tonido server or in a different network?

I have exactly the same problem, and I am not running TonidoSync at all, that I know of. I get a square popup on the right bottom of the screen just above the system tray, that flashes on and off about ever 5 seconds. "Tonido (new line) Failed to Login!" There is a fairly thick grey bar that runs down the left side of the popup.

Running software is:

    Tonido 7.83.0.2.27601 (Pro)
    Teamviewer 10
    Ccleaner 5.x
    Nvidia GeForce Experience
    Google Drive
    Bittorrent Sync (current version)
    OneDrive
    Malwarebytes (current version)
    Avast (current version)

Firefox (current version)


Environment:
Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit
Core i3
8 GB Ram


I see that the OP got no useful replies back in June of 2014. I hope someone can help with this.

Please try to uninstall tonidosync

To uninstall tonidosync,

Search for tonidosync, And click on "uninstall tonidosync" as shown in the screenshot

Yes, thank you, but that was the FIRST thing I tried. Can we skip past the stuff I KNOW how to do to the stuff that I don't know how to do?

And can we do more than one step at a time? Or is your solution to simply uninstall Tonido, and then not use it? That'll work, no doubt, but it is hardly in anyone's best interests. :lol:

Once uninstalled, Try reinstalling the app

Yeah, I did THAT as well. Seriously, I am not really that incompetent. However, I am not in possession of the secret CodeLathe knowledge that I need to resolve this problem.

Sorry, We are unable to reproduce the issue in our system.

Check if you are running tonido and tonido sync on the same machine.

I am not. I am running the Tonido Server only. I managed to turn off the annoying popup by turning off notifications, but that is swatting flies with a cannon. I would prefer to have notifications on, if possible. And obviously this problem exists independently of my particular machine, since an entirely different user posted about it 4 years ago. That user could not have been using Win 8.1, so this is NOT an OS incompatibility. And it has survived numerous updates to Tonido Server.

Any useful suggestions?

Try suspending the sync app. To do so,

1. Navigate to Apps->manage.
2. Click on the sync app and select "suspend" from the context menu.

The popups will stop appearing.

You can resume the sync app when you are trying to sync files/folders
