Question about Tonido Sync

Postby 3wheels1life » Tue Jan 07, 2014 1:25 pm

Hello,

I have some questions about Tonido Sync.

1. Are the files in the Sync folder encrypted while they are synced to/stored on Codelathe's server?
2. If so, what type of encryption is used?
3. How exactly are the files transferred in Sync - does Codelathe's server monitor changes or actually store the files?
4. Do LAN transfers using Sync without Tonidoid (just an IP) still involve the use of Codelathe's server?
5. Can you make an option in future versions of Tonido to sync unlimited amounts of data for free over a LAN from a TonidoPlug2 without using Codelathe's server?

Thank you.

1. Are the files in the Sync folder encrypted while they are synced to/stored on Codelathe's server?
No, they are never stored in our server, they are stored in your server only. Data gets routed through our relay servers if needed.

2. If so, what type of encryption is used?

For routing, if using https, ssl is used.

3. How exactly are the files transferred in Sync - does Codelathe's server monitor changes or actually store the files?

No.

4. Do LAN transfers using Sync without Tonidoid (just an IP) still involve the use of Codelathe's server?

No.

5. Can you make an option in future versions of Tonido to sync unlimited amounts of data for
free over a LAN from a TonidoPlug2 without using Codelathe's server?

This is unlikely to happen unfortunately.
