That is quite odd. This is searching on the DCIM folder in the external storage (It finds the images on our test devices). The external storage folder is not hard coded and is querying the android system (so typically /sdcard is shown to the system as /storage/emulated/0/) . This works on our 6 test devices (running 4.2 and 4.4)
Are you using stock android ?
I have added explicit search of images in /sdcard/DCIM in build v3.4. Hopefully it will find images in your device with that change?

Re: Android BETA: Automatic backup of Photos and Videos supp
No I am using a custom version of Android. The new 3.4apk had no success.

Re: Android BETA: Automatic backup of Photos and Videos supp
The last build searches throw /sdcard/DCIM folder and looks for every subfolder in that location and picks up photos.. In my system, /sdcard/DCIM is softlinked by /storage/emulated... and if finds and uploads photos ...
If you use an explorer application, are you seeing the photos in /sdcard/DCIM/Camera folder? I am curious to see what exact folder it should be looking for and I Can add some special checks..
Also can you confirm that you uninstall the app everytime and verify that the new build is installed by checking its version?

I have been uninstalling each build and verifying the version.
When I use es file explorer and copy the full path to where photos are stored, the result is
/sdcard/DCIM/Camera/_20140802_115059.JPG
, and I can also find the same pictures in
/storage/sdcard0/DCIM/Camera/_20140802_115059.JPG
, and
/storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera/_20140802_115059.JPG.
I am not sure why there are so many paths to the same file.
It doesn't make since it's not working for me if your test devices work.
I tried installing on my work phone a Samsung galaxy stellar, and the store path never populated and the service states that it is idle. It still never stated uploading.
On my nexus the store path populates and the service status indicates is running.

Re: Android BETA: Automatic backup of Photos and Videos supp
OK, well I fixed the problem by changing the storage location to /home/server/tonidosync. That makes me sad though because I store all my pictures on my NAS @ /mnt/NAS/pictures/mobile_uploads. Can you think of any reason why I couldn't upload to my NAS. I am able to access that location from the app and web. Thanks for all your hard work, I'm sorry it was something so simple.
How I found the problem was I used my wife's iPhone and an exception populated saying invalid storage location.

New test:
1: Server version and OS:
Tonido Plug, Server 5.80.0.26973
2. Android app version
3.4
3. Android OS version
4.3
4. Android device type/model
Samsung Galaxy S3
5. Method to recreate the problem
Installed apk, created folder, ran Camera uploads.
It uploaded 9 pics - ok
New pictures taken - No upload. It still only sees 9 pictures
The problem is with the folders:
The S3 has ability to photograph in 'burst mode'.. (Really fast repeated shutter for following a moving target). It saves these burst mode shots in the folder..
/Storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera/filename.jpg
Normal camera photographs are NOT saved in this folder.. Normal single shot camera photos are saved in:
/storage/extSdCard/DCIM/Camera/filename.jpg
I would like the app to save the normal single shot photos, NOT the burst shot photos.

So you are saying after initial backup, new pictures are not backed up (irrespective of normal or burst mode)

Re: Android BETA: Automatic backup of Photos and Videos supp
I have this beta installed on a verizon Galaxy S3. Shouldn't it back up new photos automatically, or is it required to open the app and tap on the camera icon to launch photo upload/backup.
The latter is how it's working now and I'd prefer the former...
Thanks!
Doug

Re: Android BETA: Automatic backup of Photos and Videos supp
I got this working pretty much immediately, but it is having issues uploading all the pictures. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.3, and I have set it to store my pictures on the SD card, but some of the features of the Galaxy (like best picture, which takes 8 shots at once) will always store on the internal storage regardless of that setting. The net result is that I have some pictures on internal storage and some on the SD card. In this case, the auto-upload only finds the pictures on the internal memory, and not the ones on the SD card (where the majority of my pictures are).
