Server connection problems

Hi,

I have recently installed Tonido on my PC, my android tablet and my android mobile phone. I am having massive problems getting my tablet and phone to connect to the serve, in fact since setting everything up I have managed it only 3 times in 3 days, one on my phone and twice on my tablet.

My system configuration details are as follows:-

PC running Microsoft windows 8 with antivirus and firewall. Firewall has been configured to allow Tonido access to the web etc and I have tested it by entering the I.P address 127.0.0.1:10001 into my browser and can confirm that it works. I have also made sure that the relay service is active etc. See below for screen shot 1 for details.

My mobile phone is a HTC Sensation XL running ice cream sandwich and antivirus software. When I use the app to access my account I get the error message Failed connecting to server, see screen shot 2 for details. This has happened both when I am at home connected to my home router and also when away from home trying to connect through 3g.

My android tablet is a Samsung Galaxy tab 2 10.1 (GT-P5110) running android 4.1.1 and antivirus software. Again when trying to access my account using the app I get the error message Failed connecting to server, see screen shot 3 for details. This has happened when I am at home connected to my router, I have not tried it away from home.

When entering the I.P address 127.0.0.1:10001 into the browsers on my android devices (Google Chrome ) I get an error message stating the browser could not connect to it, when I enter https://tonidousername.tonidoid.com I can access my account through the browser.

Based on the above I would say that it is a problem with the app rather than my firewall or any other settings but I would be wrong an any advice you could give would be great. Also the app repeatedly crashes and force closes. I should also add that on the 3 times it did work it was ace so I am really keen to get it working properly.

If you want to know any details of antivirus and firewalls used I will only send these via PM, the same goes for my Tonido details. The last question I have is does it make a difference if I use http:// or https://. I have tried both but have only had success with https://

Can you try with the latest Android app?

We fixed an issue with android app which had problems connecting if you had used special characters. You need to download the latest version, have you tried it?

Hi I have just tried using my phone on 3g (i am at work at the moment) and the latest version of the app and it logged in straight away, I won't be home until after midnight so tomorrow I will test when I am connected to my home network and will also test my tablet then I will let you know how it went

Hi,

I have now tried both my phone and tablet on my home network and all appears to be well at the moment, the app logs me in and I have no problem downloading and streaming etc, only thing left to try is when I am on another network but it looks like the problem has been fixed thanks

Hi. Since a couple of weeks I face exactly the same issue, although it worked fine before. Reinstalled the new APK, no success. Samsung S3, Nexus 7.

Can you list the version of your Tonido server, the APK information? Also, there was a bug in earlier version which used to fail loggin in when password or remote answers had special character which has been resolved in latest server and app versions.

Please post in a new thread. It is extremely hard to understand the issues if following up on an original thread posted by someone else.
