Please help with TonidoPlug2 fix!

Postby 3wheels1life » Fri May 02, 2014 11:02 pm

Hello,

I've got a TonidoPlug2 which I attempted to install Arch Linux on an internal SATA drive following http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/tonidoplug-2. Unfortunately, the instructions changed some settings on the internal flash. I later removed Arch Linux from the SATA drive (removed & formatted the SATA drive) and then my Tonido got the red LED flashing problem which has prevented it from booting(see this thread: http://www.tonido.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5022&p=23857). So I ordered a CP2012 USB serial adapter. I connected the cables as described in this thread: http://www.tonido.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=3536&start=10. I can see the output from the TP2 using minicom.
Unfortunately, within minicom pressing Control + C doesn't enable me to access U-Boot. How can I get access to fix the options? I can install putty, pterm, screen, and other software. I can also post terminal output if needed. My computers run Ubuntu 12.04 if that helps.

I really need to fix my TP2 so I can use it!

Please help me.

Best regards,

You can try to use teraterm and see if it helps...

Thanks Tuxedo for the assistance.

Actually, I got it working today. Here's what I did:

I used putty (pterm) with the settings in the below thread.
I had been attempting to use minicom which didn't accept the ctrl-c required to interrupt u-boot.
Once I tried putty I could get it (Ctrl+C) to work and restored it using the commands found on this thread:
http://www.tonido.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5022&p=33210
Apparently, minicom has a known issue with Ctrl-C:
https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=37724
The fix to get minicom to work appears to be pretty simple as outlined in this thread (I didn't try it):
https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-853411.html

For a serial adapter, I used a CP2102 USB to serial adapter (I connected the 3.3v side, not the 5v) on a Ubuntu 12.04 machine. The adapter was recognized instantly.

Glad to have it working again! :D
