Reuse SAMBA sharenames

Postby Tuxedo » Sun Jan 10, 2010 11:06 am

When you have created multiple SAMBA shares from plugadmin, you might run into a problem when you try to create a new share. Plugadmin gives a error that the share name already exists. This happens because the share name you are trying to use do exist and it is not displayed in plugadmin.
Until this is fixed, please follow these steps to remove the shares that you have already created but currently not using it.
1) Edit the file /etc/samba/smb.conf
2) Each share in this file will be represented by 3 line, for example:
[MediaDisk]
comment=Maxtor HDD
path=/media/usb0/
3) To delete this share, remove all three lines.
4) Save the file .
5) reload share configuration with the command:

Code: Select all

 # /etc/init.d/samba reload
