Postby emacpher » Thu Mar 22, 2012 8:51 am

Might it be possible to run Tonido on the Raspberry Pi?

Should work if you run Debian 6 on the Pi.

So I have been experimenting a bit, and have the following to report:

1. Debian-Squeeze: I copied the Tonido apps from the USB flash drive that I used for my Tonido 1. Nothing special just copied the whole tonido folder to /usr/local/bin and then started it up. Worked rather well.
-Media Server and Jukebox functioned as they should.
-Torrent works at first, but just cuts off all of the downloads after a few minutes.
-Shell program does not work
-Search works
-Some of the Explorer functions work, some do not
-Cannot install TonidoApps that were not already installed on the T1 before I copied it over, therefore I will have more testing to do...
-Can connect using TonidoID

2. Debian-Wheezy beta: I followed the same procedure as above, it appears to start, but I am unable to connect via IP address nor TonidoID. Will do some fiddling and report back if I have better news.

3. Raspbian: Would even pretend to start... might have given me the finger as well... I don't think this distro is for me.

4. Arch: Haven't attempted, I have Arch on my T2 and haven't been able to get it work, any suggestions would be appreciated.

The debian squeeze issue might be permissions. Have you tried changing the owner to the raspberry pi user? Making the permissions less restrictive?

Bump

Did anyone ever get tonido running on a raspberry Pi yet?

I would be a killer with 1 million Pi's sold & the great tonido sat on it.

So is it possible?

Thanks

Ben

we do have plans to create a package for rPi (most of us here at codelathe own and use rPi as htpc as wekk). I expect that to happen after the current FileCloud and Tonido releases.
