If I wanted to reset the rootfs on the Tonido Plug 2 internal flash back to the base, default installation, would this work?

1. Boot from a USB
2. Mount the internal flash
3. Format the internal flash as ext3
4. wget the rootfs to the internal flash
5. un-tar the rootfs file
6. un-mount the internal flash
7. shut down, remove the USB, reboot.

Is there something else special I need to do?

Yes, something like this

Code: Select all

Check plug to ensure plug is booted with usb stick
Run the following commands from a linux prompt
ubiattach /dev/ubi_ctrl -m 3
mount -t ubifs ubi0:rootfs /mnt/
cd /mnt
rm -rf *
tar zxvf /files/rootfs_topkick.tar.gz
pull out the drive and reboot

Thank you very much.

In this example, rootfs_topkick.tar.gz is stored locally on the flash. Do you have a url to wget it from, just in case?

Our plug guy (Tuxedo) is not here, but can't you use the same URL you use for doing USB booting?

Sure. I was concerned that it is a different file because the name has "topkick" in it. rootfs_topkick.tar.gz vs rootfs.tar.gz. I'll run a checksum when I get home to confirm.

Ok. I understand now that tar zxvf /files/rootfs_topkick.tar.gz is an example, and that the /files directory does not exist on the flash. I'm a little slow sometimes. :-)

I used the rootfs.tar.gz for the plug2 and it worked fine. The TP2 is reset to factory.

Thanks again.

Unknown and unlikely to work.
