Reset password or restore plug to factory settings

Postby neils » Thu Mar 24, 2011 7:31 am

Hello forum

I'm having problems connecting to a Tonido Plug.

It wasn't me that initially set up the plug. The person that did has tried all the passwords they thought it could have been but none of them work. The account, it seems, wasn't set up with an email so we can't use the Forgot Password link on the page http://<ip address>:10001.

We have managed to reset the Plug Admin so I have access to that.

I have tried recovering the profile password under Credentials, Profile Information in the information section of the admin page using the 'Recover' button. When typing in the account name that we think the Tonido was set up with (the one that appears above the password entry box on the login screen) the error "Unable to get profile information" is returned.

From what I can make out, I can't create a new account without being able to get into the Tonido setup.

I either need to be able to reset the password or restore the plug to factory settings.

Please help!

Thanks

Because you have access to your plug admin, it appears you have root access still.
What I suggest is SSH to your plug via Putty or such like and then deleting the profile folder. This will allow you to create a new profile.

You have to go to the /root/app/tonido/approot/profiles directory
and delete the folder with profile name in it.

THen restart the plug.

Ok, I've successfully managed to login to the root using Putty but I've not used Putty or SSH before and don't know what I'm doing.

Can you tell me what the commands are to do what you're suggesting?

Will this result in an instance where that profile name cannot be used again?

I presume that the profile we had set up is a different one from the root profile? The root profile logged in in SSH, not with the 'nosoup4u' password, but the password that my colleague thought they'd set up in the first place. Can the Tonido login be made available as 'root' again as opposed to the <user defined name>?

Thanks

If you do what I suggest, you will lose the previous account and create a new account. It is not possible to recover the old account if you don't know the password.

After you login, do the following

root@TonidoPlug:~# cd /root/app/tonido/approot/profiles/
root@TonidoPlug:~/app/tonido/approot/profiles#

root@TonidoPlug:~/app/tonido/approot/profiles# ls
<account name>

root@TonidoPlug:~/app/tonido/approot/profiles# rm -rf <account name>

Power down and restart plug. When you open page, it should allow you to create a new account.

This has worked, all be it that the first username seems to be lost forever, but I have now created a new account and have access to the little box of tricks.

Thanks
