Definitely seems to need sql-lite command line.

Code: Select all

mt-daapd -f start

is a good way of seeing what is happening as mt-daapd starts

I think I need Avahi too...

hi everybody
i solved the issue and that would probably help
you do have to activate multicast on your router if you connect your itunes client from a wifi access...

i like the idea of heaving mt-daap running on the TonidoPlug, where did you put the database? I'm asking because if it gets to big it may hinder the Tonido Apps. Do you have any experience how big it gets?

thx

Hi all and happy new year with your tonido plug !!

I'm one more time opening the thread during i discover the issue about avahi and itunes library publishing issue :

With an infrastructure like Tonido--Ethernet-Router--Wifi---Itunes

Then firefly doesn't publish in itunes
the issue is well known :

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/343069

You have to :
stop avahi server
launch firefly
launch avahi

is there any linux expert to help me to avoid this ? (a script or something ??)

thanks

regards

Arnaud

It appears that running apt-get install mt-daapd no longer works. Is there an updated command to setup an iTunes server?

Thanks for posting this Scott. I can confirm that this still works on a tonidoplugV1 (tested with: 1) iTunes version 8.2.1 on Mac 10.6.8, 2) iTunes 9.2.1 on Mac 10.8.2). I boot debian squeeze off an external hard drive. It installed fine (even from within a chroot jail). For tips, I would do an apt-get update. I prefer doing aptitude install instead of apt-get (I've noticed in the past it does a better job of installing dependencies). If you have a firewall, be sure to open the appropriate udp port (3685).
I'm not a fan of iTunes though (no flac support).

update: I tested iTunes 10.7 on Mac 10.8.2 and it doesn't appear to work.
