/dev/sda not mounted

Postby spartacus » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:35 pm

Booting from usb 1T WD MyBook (as per posted instructions):

df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
rootfs 917G 86G 785G 10% /
tmpfs 251M 0 251M 0% /lib/init/rw
varrun 251M 324K 251M 1% /var/run
varlock 251M 0 251M 0% /var/lock
udev 251M 116K 251M 1% /dev
tmpfs 251M 0 251M 0% /dev/shm
tmpfs 251M 22M 230M 9% /var/cache/apt

However, Plug Admin->Disks shows:
Internal Disk: Internal Flash - used 86G of 917G
and
External Disk: /dev/sda 1000.2G ext3 not mounted

Is that normal/correct? (webmin says that format is FAT3)

I've tried emailing photos but nothing appears in upload directory...

UserData = /media/disk1part1

There are some hard drives that don't appear to work for booting unfortunately. Please try a different USB drive/make.

Boot apparently succeeded (per df -h). Why do you say boot not working?

I am having the same issue with WD 1TB. It tells me on the TonidoPlug Admin that the drive is not mounted, but when I use df -h, I get:

Code: Select all

Filesystem            Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on
rootfs                462M  298M  160M  66% /
tmpfs                 251M     0  251M   0% /lib/init/rw
varrun                251M  260K  251M   1% /var/run
varlock               251M     0  251M   0% /var/lock
udev                  251M   12K  251M   1% /dev
tmpfs                 251M     0  251M   0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda              917G  200M  871G   1% /media/disk1part
tmpfs                 251M     0  251M   0% /var/cache/apt

Any updates on this? Thanks.

Forgot to mention, using ext3 formatted drive

The issue here i think is that the filesystem is created on the disk itself (/dev/sda) rather than the normal practice of creating it on the first partition (/dev/sda1).
