Automount with Credentials for Jukebox

Postby tanjun » Thu May 27, 2010 1:02 pm

Hi,

I was able to mount my windows share (finally) but don't want to putty in every time there's a restart. To that end, I've been trying to work out an automount with credentials but am getting errors.

I did (after creating the .smbcredentials file first):

Code: Select all

sudo nano /root/.smbcredentials

and entered in:

Code: Select all

username=theuser
password=thepass

then so only the root can read:

Code: Select all

sudo chmod 700 /root/.smbcredentials

now add the mount command to the end of /fstab:

Code: Select all

mount -t cifs //192.168.1.28/ f$/media/music /1 credentials=/root/.smbcredentials,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 0 0

finally:

Code: Select all

sudo mount -a

and I get a 'bad line' error. My mount command obviously has something wrong with it, but I'm not deft enough to resolve it. Any suggestions? Thank you!
