Setting up your own cloud network

Forgive me if this is in the wrong area. Wasn't sure where to post it.

I thought of an idea/niche where it would be beneficial to set up my own cloud network. I planned on doing it with a plug computer and OwnCloud and my website would be similar to a dropbox for this niche group.

I figured users could either open up an account on my website for space, or purchase their own plug computer pre-loaded with OwnCloud configured to connect to my site. (useraccount.mysite.com would either be a their account on my website/server or connect to their local plug from the same url) From what I can tell, it seems this is exactly what Tonido is already doing.

So I guess what I'm asking, from a very laymans standpoint....

1) is it possible to use the preloaded tonido software to connect to a different site similar to how it works with Tonido, or would I be best following the path of a fresh install of OwnCloud on a plug and going from there?

Thanks,
Sel

Yeah...tonido cannot act as a proxy to another service.
