Unlimited sync

Postby Raaert » Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:37 pm

Hi Tonido,

Howcome you don't offer unlimited sync with Tonido Biz?
It seems the idea with Biz, is to use own ssl certificate/domain and not use relay - in this case there's no stress on your servers.

I've experienced a big improvement in sync reliability/robustness over the past 6 months, great job!
Yet i'm still amazed you do not offer an 'unlimited sync' option, there's a lot of us that don't use the relay service.

Best regards,

Thanks for the positive feedback. :)

With Biz, they can still use relay, we don't prevent it. That is one reason, the other reason is that unlimited sync might set the wrong expectation. If someone puts say a few hundred thousand files in there and expect it to sync reasonably they might be disappointed. So we wanted to avoid that.

If your general thought is that is not an issue, we can definitely think about this.

Note that for Tonido Cloud (http://www.tonido.com/cloud) which is a self-hosted storage solution for SMBs, etc, there is no sync limit.

The first sync is always long/slow, everyone knows that. And i believe we're a lot people that wants unlimited sync because we dont need the relay.

Yes i've seen Tonido Cloud, but have not had a chance to try it as it is in a trial mode.
I've applied, but no answer yet :/

You sent a note about trial and you didn't get a response back with the invite?
