Frontend to mount Samba Shares

Postby laserline » Tue Jan 11, 2011 3:05 pm

Users shouldn't have to edit the smb.conf file. Instead users should be able to browse their network and see all the shared folders that each device/computer decides to share. For example, I have a Drobo FS and would love to access that device with Tonido in an easy way. TonidoPlug will automatically connect to mounted drive shares upon reboot and will be displayed in an easy fashion (i.e. under my computer create Network Shares > Folder 1, Folder 2, etc) or some other easy interface.

Adding to this..

to "fix" OSX 10.6+ "unix extensions" "bug/feature?" that hits when you try to copy an alias file to a Tonido SMB share.. you have to now manually edit the smb.conf file on the TonidoPlug and set the "unix extension = no" to disable server-side unix-link support.. it would be nice if you could have something like laserline suggests, perhaps a guified "advanced" tab so you can make changes to the smb.conf file from the tonido administration page.

yes, a smb config page would be nice.
Support for NFS for the Linux/Mac users here would be great, too.
(Yes, i can configure this manually, but it would be nice, if this would work the same way
like the smb autoshare +configure page)

This might help http://www.samba.org/samba/GUI/ for web front ends.

I will say as well it would be nice to at the very least be able to browse the network and not just mount the drives.
