Please try installing lsyncd (auto sync but only one way) or unison (sync two ways but need cron jobs). This is a youtube video that shows how lsyncd works

Hi there,

if you have the " WebsharePro" or a TonidoPlug,
you can use this:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/webdav-sync/

i haven't tried it myself yet, because i got my plug not until yesterday,
but i will give it a try (and report my experiences here ;) )

If it works, maybe the tonido-guys can build a tonido-client based on this  :?:
Some tray-app witch syncs every X minutes in the background would be nice.

You can do WebDAV as admin without websharepro.

Ok.
I've tested "WebDav-Sync" a little and here's what can say about it:
"WebDav-Sync" don't work.
I can access my shares on my Mac without any Problems via WebDav.
I also can access it from a Windows-Machine in any Webbrowser.
But if i try to access it from a Windows-Machine via the "WebDav-Sync" tool i only get
"The property is not available."
(I've don't tried "WebDav-Sync" from my Mac yet.)
I tried the following command using "WebDav-Sync":

Code: Select all

java -jar webdav_sync1_0_1.jar -r -bi -u http://<myguestaccount>:<myguestpwd>@<mytonidoID>.tonidoid.com/app/websharepro/share/Datengrab/ -d d:\test\

Some ideas?

It looks like WebDAV Sync is trying to use some parts of the WebDAV protocol not implemented by Tonido.

OK.
Are you planning to implement the missing parts?
If we could get the "WebDav-Sync" Tool to work (and if it works well),
i would try to build a GUI for that, so we get an easy to use client for Tonido 8-)

We would have to take a look at that to know what needs to be done.

There are plenty of things in our queue right now, including new versions for iPhone/Android coming out as well as a new Tonido release, so can't say when we can look at this, hopefully soon.

I know this is low on your que right now. I might suggest however that you take a moment to evaluate the market again to see if the priorities for your list need to be updated. It may be that folder sync was not a big deal when you made your list, but if you look at the state of cloud services now things are definitively all about folder sync.

For example: Live Mesh, DropBox, Box.net, Boxy, SumoDrive, Wuala, SpiderOak, SugarSync, Syncplicity, Jungle Disk, etc. ALL push sync as one of their primary features.

Tonido is a better service than all of these except in this one area, where it is strangely missing the feature. This is even though most of the parts for this feature are there and the software to do it is freely available through open source.

So, I'm just sayin' you may want to look at your list again to see if maybe the market has moved around you and some of what is on your list maybe should move down to make room for folder sync.

For me, I am going with MS Live Mesh + Mozy + an external drive for now. I am missing a web interface for my files right now and will probably add Tonido to the mix at least on one computer. In my dream world I could buy a plug, add an external hard drive and mozy, then sync relevant files to specific computers, and use the tonido webinterface on my tablet.

Anyhow, good luck, I think you are doing a good thing. Happy holidays.
