i was having some trouble with adding my music library, in that anytime it was trying to add a "corrupted" file, it would stop, i would need to check the log, find the file, remove it, delete the jukebox.db file, and try it all over.

what i noticed was that each time there was an issue with a file, it was because it was an alias file type. i just went through my 50GB music collection and removed all the alias files and so far it is adding very smoothly.

so my advice to any mac users with a huge library, just take the time to go through it and get rid of the alias files. otherwise you will be going through that little process i described above more than any person should have to in their lifetime.

not sure if this is an issue for windows/linux users, but itunes like to make my life difficult in giving me duplicate files and alias files with some music, which i ignored until now.
