New FileCloud Service Provider Edition Enables MSPs to Launch Own Branded Enterprise File Sync and Share Offerings

White Label, Enterprise File Sharing and Sync Platform Adds Service Provider Partners in UK, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, and Belgium

AUSTIN, TEXAS (11/19/2014) — CodeLathe, the leader in enterprise private cloud, today announced the immediate availability of FileCloud Service Provider Edition, a white label file sharing, and sync solution for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). FileCloud Service Provider Edition enables MSPs to provide end-to-end file sync, file share, and mobile access solution to their small business and enterprise customers. FileCloud is self-hosted by service providers using their own data center infrastructure.

“Few public cloud companies have tried to monopolize world’s information under their cloud storage services,” said Madhan Kanagavel, chief executive, CodeLathe’s. “Doing so brings unprecedented security, privacy risks, and a total lack of control for businesses. But with the introduction of FileCloud Service Provider Edition, MSPs can now offer an enterprise-level cloud solution to manage file sharing and sync solution for businesses in their region, which, often times, offers better security and trusted service than non-local providers.”

Businesses now can get FileCloud from the one of the following Service Providers: Mitol.co (United Kingdom), Moresi.com (Switzerland), MTF Cloud (Switzerland), Braathe Gruppen (Norway), Computerland (Belgium), 010 Cloud Computing (Israel) and Websdepot (Canada).

FileCloud Service Provider Edition comes in three flavors: Premium, Advanced and Basic. The Premium Edition gives web, desktop and mobile branding while the Advanced and Basic Edition gives desktop, and web branding respectively. FileCloud Service Provider Edition is also offered under Service Provider Licensing Agreement (SPLA) that provides a simple, pay-as-you-go, pricing.

Key features of FileCloud SP Edition are:

  • Multi-Tenancy – Multiple FileCloud sites can be housed in single install of FileCloud;
  • Custom Branding – Web, Desktop and Mobile app Branding;
  • Multi-Administrator – Role based access control and ability to add multiple administrators for each site;
  • FileCloud API’s – API’s to manage tenants and users enabling 3rd party integration.

“We investigated many cloud solutions, but from the word go we were very impressed with the professionalism of Codelathe,” said Lee Morrell, chief executive, Mitol Backup. “Throughout the product development process, they have been proactive and supportive in how they have tailored their FileCloud solution to meet our business model requirements. We have already recruited over 100 resellers to our FileCloud channel, and with the launch of the FileCloud Service Provider Edition, Mitol looks forward to strengthening an already close relationship with Codelathe.”

“We have many requests from partners, and customers for securing their digital life in a secure place in Switzerland,” said Nicola Mores, chief executive, Moresi.Com SA. “FileCloud is the best choice for empowering our customers with an enterprise cloud solution that is offered by a Swiss-based service provider. Their business model and professional support were the key reasons for our decision to move forward with Codelathe in this emerging market.”

Announcing FileCloud 5.0 – Network Folder Sync, Endpoint Backup, Openstack and more

We are happy to announce the immediate availability of FileCloud 5.0.

FileCloud 5.0 is a landmark release which brings unprecedented power and features to make FileCloud the best Private Enterprise File Sharing and Sync Solution available in the market today.

Here are the major highlights:

Network Folder Offline Access

Previous to FileCloud 5.0, it was not possible to make Network Folders available offline for editing (for example: Managed Storage Synced Files). Now in FileCloud 5.0, we are now supporting the ability to make network folders available offline locally for employees to use when offline. They can edit and modify files and they can then synchronize the files back the Network Folders when online.

Endpoint Backup

FileCloud 5.0 also introduces the ability to backup employee’s data in arbitrary folders on computers  running Windows, Mac or Linux to FileCloud for safekeeping.
Folders selected for backup are automatically backed up on a schedule selected by the user.

Sync App Improvements

There are many significant sync app improvements including key usability fixes in Windows where icon overlays are used to indicate the sync status of files directly in Windows Explorer.

There is also a status window, that shows the synchronization status clearly and unambiguously. This is useful especially if you are synchronizing large datasets and want to track the progress of the sync.

OpenStack Support

The OpenStack Object Store, known as Swift, offers cloud storage software so that you can store and retrieve lots of data with a simple API. It’s built for scale and optimized for durability, availability, and concurrency across the entire data set. FileCloud 5.0 allows using OpenStack Swift as a storage backend instead of using traditional disk storage. This allows building very large storage solutions at the fraction of the cost of traditional enterprise systems.

iOS Media Backup

Endpoint backup is not limited only to Desktops.
The new FileCloud iOS app allows employees to automatically backup their media files (photos and videos) directly to FileCloud.

We are continuing in our quest to make Tonido FileCloud the best Private Enterprise Cloud solution in the market. We believe FileCloud 5.0 is a major landmark release in that quest and augurs well for the future.

Using .bashrc in Unix systems

If you are a system administrator, your tasks generally require you to login to many systems remotely through the terminal, and having proper knowledge of useful commands is a must! However, just knowing about these commands is not sufficient because you need to use them efficiently. Getting your mind over the bashrc file is one step in that process.

Where is the .bashrc file located?

Since messing around with the .bashrc file can cause big issues with your system, it is a hidden file located in your home directory. That means you can open the file with any text editor by going to ~/.bashrc. The absolute path is /home/<my_username>/.bashrc (more…)

Launching FileCloud Release 4.5 – Selective Sync, Remote Device Management and More

New Tonido FileCloud 4.5 is now released. This is a major release with many many new features, enhancements and bug fixes. Upgrading to this release is recommended at the earliest.

Important Notes

We recommend all our customers to upgrade both their MongoDB database to 2.4 and above and the PHP MongoDB driver to 1.4 and higher. This gives best overall performance all around and is much more robust and reliable. The new FileCloud 4.5 install check will warn you now if lower versions are encountered. Even though you can continue to run with older versions, it is better to upgrade at the earliest possible opportunity.

Critical Fixes

  • This release improves the stability and robustness of the FileCloud sync client under different network conditions and files

Manage Files for Users from admin UI

It is now possible for the admin to browse, copy, move, delete specific user’s files directly from the Admin UI. This makes it easier for the Admin to manage files in FileCloud. To access the files for a user, open the user’s management dialog and then click “Manage Files”.

Support Remote Device management, Remote Wipe for Drive and Sync

Prior to 4.5, FileCloud only supported mobile devices like iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets. Now, with 4.5.2 and new Sync and Drive clients, admins can manage them similar to how mobile clients are managed. Each user’s running sync or drive will show up in the Device management UI in the admin panel and admin can control various aspects.

Selective Folder Sync in sync client

Prior to 4.5.2, sync client apps only were able to sync all the folders that were marked for syncing to local desktop. Starting with 4.5.2, desktop sync clients for Windows, Mac, Linux can optionally choose which folders they want to synchronize locally. This allows really smart syncing, allowing users to maximize the working space on their local desktop or laptop. You no longer need to tie up gigabytes of storage for the sync client.

To select the folders you need, click on the Sync client menu and select settings and then in the settings window, select “Advanced”.

Trim Audit DB records

With 4.5.2 it is now possible to export and trim large Audit record sets, so that you can archive old audit records and then delete them so that the Audit database size is maintained easily.

Beautiful HTML Email Templates

HTML mail templates are now fully supported. See example below:

There are many many more bugfixes and updates.

New Tonido FileCloud 4.0 Now Offers Mobile Device Management, Smart Notifications & Document Preview Support

Latest Update to On-Premises Private Cloud Offers Enhanced Mobile Device Security, Advanced Configuration Options to Serve Enterprises, SMBs and Managed Service Providers

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — CodeLathe, the leader in personal cloud products and services, today launched Tonido FileCloud 4.0, adding new mobile device management (MDM) capabilities, file-change notifications, document preview and advanced administrative and configuration options to its on-premises file sharing and mobile access solution.

The only self-hosted enterprise-grade file sharing and sync solution, Tonido FileCloud puts businesses, schools, ISPs and MSPs in control of their data and infrastructure to ensure complete security and privacy, with the convenience, accessibility and real-time sync of web-based file storage. With this latest update, FileCloud 4.0 gives users even more control and customization options to address mobile device management.

Unlike other on-premises file storage solutions, FileCloud is designed to meet the mobile accessibility and security needs of the modern business environment with robust apps, and now mobile device management, for iOS, Android and Windows 8,” said Anis Abdul, CTO of CodeLathe. “With FileCloud 4.0, we’ve raised the bar even higher, adding more powerful tools and customization options to streamline the most common administrative tasks.”

The new FileCloud 4.0 now includes:

  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) that gives administrators real-time visibility into all mobile devices connected to FileCloud, to view data access activity and send push notifications to device owners. Using the FileCloud MDM dashboard, admins can also remotely wipe or block mobile devices to prevent unauthorized access to FileCloud if a device is lost or stolen.
  • Smart Notifications that alert users in shared folders when files or folders are changed or edited, to keep everyone on the same page with real-time collaboration, consistency and versioning control.
  • Built-in document preview that enables users to view common file formats, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and .txt files, inside a web browser, without the need to download the full files and regardless of the software installed. This allows FileCloud users to share documents with other users running different operating systems and software without any conflict or compatibility issues.
  • Enhanced administration tools that allow FileCloud admins to customize FileCloud templates, error messages and news feed options with point-and-click ease within the admin user interface dashboard, instead of requiring a configuration file. In addition, admins can see a real-time graphical snapshot of storage capacity, current usage and user activity, as well as add and configure access and security settings for users individually or by uploading a CSV file. Built-in file logging tracks all user-file interactions in a central log file for easy audit reporting.

FileCloud Version 4.0 is a major milestone for us and the industry. The addition of MDM and remote data wipe capabilities sets a new standard in the market for enterprise-grade cloud storage and sync,” said Madhan Kanagavel, founder and CEO of CodeLathe. “The new MDM capabilities make the solution very attractive to security-conscious enterprises.”

Tonido FileCloud offers the only secure, on-premises file storage and mobile access platform with truly cross-platform compatibility for all mobile devices, as well as any web browser and desktop drive sync. With built-in enterprise-grade security, Active Directory support for user authentication and petascale capability to serve even the largest organizations, FileCloud offers a complete file sharing solution in a single, simple, flexible and affordable solution.
