Tonido WebsharePro Uploader User Guide

Overview

Tonido WebsharePro Uploader is a standalone application that allows users upload or send large number files, folder retaining the directory structure to any remote computer running Tonido WebsharePro.

WebsharePro Uploader Features

Tonido WebsharePro Uploader allows you to

  • Upload multiple files.
  • Recursively upload a directory and files/folders contained in it.
  • Drag-and-drop facility.
  • Queue files to be uploaded.
  • Supports SSL.
  • Supports user accounts.
  • Right-click and upload files from windows explorer (coming soon).

Installation

Note: This installer can be used on any computer from where the files needs to be uploaded to a remote computer.

  1. Get the latest Tonido WebsharePro Uploader installer from www.tonido.com.
  2. Start the installer. Click "Next" button. Image:Wspclient_install_1.png‎
  3. Enter the target directory of the installation. For typical installation the default directory should be good. Once the target directory is set, click "Next" button.Image:Wspclient_install_2.png‎
  4. Enter the program group where the applications shortcuts are to be installed.For typical installation the default group should be good. Once the group is set, click "Next" button. Select the desired shortcuts for the application. Click "Next" button.Image:Wspclient_install_3.png‎
  5. Verify the information on the summary screen. Click "Install" to complete the application installation.Image:Wspclient_install_4.png‎
  6. You can choose to start the application at the end of installation.Image:Wspclient_install_6.png‎

Basic Usage

After installation is over you need to start the application, configure it and use it. For configuration all you need is the URL, user name and password for the remote Tonido WebsharePro instance.

Starting WebsharePro Uploader

Depending on the option you selected during the installation, you might have shortcuts on desktop and/or quick launch bar and windows start menu. Start the application using anyone these shortcuts.

Configuring WebsharePro Uploader

Before you can start uploading the files, you need to enter the URL of remote Tonido instance running WebsharePro and user credentials. To configure these information, select Edit -> Preferences from the menubar. Preferences dialog can also opened by pressing Ctrl + P or clicking on the preferences icon on the icon bar.

On the preference dialog, you have two tabs.

  • Network
  • User

Network Configuration

On the network tab, enter the following information

  • Communication mode: Choose the protocol to use for communication between the uploader and the Tonido instance. (for example, HTTPS)
  • Host: Enter the URL for your remote Tonido instance. (for example, demoupl.tonidoid.com)
  • Port: Enter the port used by the remote Tonido instance. (for example, 10001)

User Configuration

On the user tab, enter the following information.

  • User: Name of the user account with upload access on the remote Tonido instance. (for example, demouser)
  • Password: Password for the same user account.
  • Share: Name of the share for which the user account has upload access. (for example, photos)

Uploading files

Files can be queued (for uploading) in the uploader by multiple ways.

  • Using built-in file chooser: Open the file chooser dialog by clicking on File -> Upload Files or clicking on file chooser icon.

  • Drag-and-drop: Files can also be uploaded by dragging them from an explorer window and dropping it on the uploader window.

Uploading directories

Queued uploads can also be a one or more folder. When a folder is added for upload, it will be searched recursively and all the files and sub-folders will be added in the upload queue. A folder can be added to the uploader by multiple ways.

  • Using built-in folder chooser: Open the folder chooser dialog by clicking on File -> Upload Directory or clicking on folder chooser icon.
