Tonido Torrents User Guide

Overview

Tonido Torrents is a plugin application for Tonido platform. With Tonido Torrents, one can view and manage torrents using its browser based UI from any location.

Basic Usage

This section provides details on using Tonido Torrents. Tonido Torrents UI is shown below.

Start a new Torrent Download

Torrents can be started using two methods in Tonido Torrents. To start a new torrent download, Click on the "New" button.

The first method is to specify the URL of the torrent file directly. The other option is to upload the torrent file. Follow the guided menu to complete the setup.

Configure Torrent

To configure a Torrent, click on the torrent. This should display the details of that torrent in the details panel at the bottom.

The details panel provides facility to control that specific torrent. For example, the upload, download limit can be changed for that torrent. Note that, Torrent specific setting cannot override Global network settings. The lowest of the local and global value will be applied (For example, if Global upload rate 10Kb/s, and the torrent specific upload rate is set to unlimited, then the Global upload rate will apply)

The behavior of clicking on "Stored at:" link depends whether or not Tonido is running on the local system or on the remote system.

If Tonido server is running in the local computer, then the folder containing the torrent file is opened. If Tonido server is running in a remote server, then a download file dialog will be displayed

Stopping Torrent Download

To stop a torrent, Select the torrent and click on "Stop" button. Clicking "Stop All" will stop all buttons.

Access downloaded torrent

To access the downloaded torrent, click on the torrent and then click on the "Stored at:" link. If you are connected to Tonido running in your remote computer, then the folder containing store location will be opened.

If you are connected to Tonido Torrents running in a remote computer (like Tonido plug) then a file download menu will be displayed to access the files.

Settings

Global setting for torrent can be accessed by clicking "Settings" button.

Using Settings menu, the default store folder, Network port, Network bandwidth for upload and download can be controlled. Note: that the lowest value of Global and Torrent specific settings will be applied

Setup for TonidoPlug

In order to allow Tonido Torrents to store downloaded files in Tonido Plug, the default store location must be changed to a USB harddisk location!. Otherwise, Tonido Torrents will reject Torrent add action. This is to prevent filling up the limited Torrent flash space in TonidoPlug
