If you want to take complete control of your TonidoPlug, Webmin is your best bet. This tool provides a Web-based interface that allows you to control virtually every aspect of your server. The following guide explains how to install Webmin on the TonidoPlug device: http://www.tonidouser.com/doku.php?id=a ... tallwebmin

Kind regards,
Dmitri

Works great. I use it sometimes just to monitor my server when I can't SSH in or even just to look at everything all in one place. Nice guide.

Is it possible to access webmin from outside your local network? I installed it and have it working at home. It is really cool, but I don't really have any problems just ssh'ing into the plug to do whatever I want at home. Being able to log into Webmin from outside my local network to edit files directly on the plug when not at home would be pretty cool. I haven't purchased the SSL license yet, so I am wondering if I can simply log into Webmin using https: //userid.tonidoid.com:10000 (instead of 10001)?

Yep, you need to port forward 10000 for webmin (default port). If you're talking about using SSL with Tonido, you need their license because it's for their interface. OpenSSL is installed with Webmin by default so you would still use https.

Excellent. I had forgotten about port forwarding. Will give it a go tonight.

Thanks, RaiD. Port forwarding works fine. I am able to bring up Webmin from my internal network using the internet address (userid....). Unfortunately, it looks like my proxy server at work is not allowing the connection (The proxy server is refusing connections). This seems odd since I am able to connect to the plug just fine on 10001, although I was not using secure connection to do so. Is this something that might work with relay service instead of port forwarding? Why would https refuse while http is fine with ports? I suppose that can be set up differently. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hello,

I just had a go at installing webmin as per the instructions and have run into a problem.

It seems that the installation of the dependencies did not go well. I am not competent enough in linux to troubleshoot this. Would someone be able to look at the attached terminal output and help me out?

Thanks,

Shane

scooper, run "apt-get -f install". That should fix it all and install webmin.

Hello Tonidopluggers,

Just letting you know that I got webmin installed. I think I mostly fluked it but it seems that some directories were missing, so, by adding any directory named in the error messages, eventually the install ran.

I attach the term output in case someone else has the same issue. Hope this is helpful.

Cheers,

Shane
