Hi, today I had a similar incident as the link (viewtopic.php?f=32&t=5065&p=24085&hilit=defect+power#p24085). I have emailed via the Support Feedback link, but later thought the forum the better option.

Whilst disconnecting the power lead, the slide in attachment at the side of the Tonidoplug2 fell off. I wasn't aware until closer examination later the the 'slide in' connector is in two parts. The outer section came adrift leaving the thin metal connectors (see below). I tried to re-assemble the unit but as you can see the connector tabs did not align. I am prepared to pay for a replacement as I may have be a tad heavy handed. It does seem a rather flimsy design to connect the power lead unlike the robust Tonido1 plug that preceded it. I would suggest to the Tonidoplug2 users out there that haven't encountered any problems to wrap insulation tape around this area to keep it in place should the power lead ever need pulling out.

I await a response from Tonido, hopefully they may modify area this in future production.

Regards,

Teeleef

I would like to add some further thought on 'Teeleef's' comments. I am not aware of the specific problem he mentions, but would agree the TP1 appeared more robust in this area. In addition TP2 makes no provision for mounting the unit, which is somewhat aggrevated by the power and ethernet cables entering at opposite ends. The temperature of the case makes using Velcro too risky for attaching to a vertical face, particularly because of the point about cables. This leads to the idea of mounting directly from the appropriate national plug, in my case UK. The add-on nature of these various plugs creates an extention off the the unit which either mounts edgewise on, or offset to one side. Neither looks or feels very secure and if 'Teleef's' comments are correct, maybe not very robust.
Nevertheless I have done this using an 'Homeplug' with a thro' socket and a very short ethernet cable to gain network access.
It works fine and can be placed anywhere domestically which has a suitable socket. However it does look like a 'christmas tree' and somewhat vulnerable.
Very happy with TP2 but feel this is an area which could do with a review

Thanks for the note about the issue with your TonidoPlug2.
We will send this issue to our manufacturer requesting a future improvement to this area.

Could you send me a replacement connector, I my Tonidoplug2 is now out of service. As I indicated in my email I am prepared to pay for this.

The main problem is we don't keep around extra connectors. So we would have to take them off an existing unit. However, we can check if there are any old units that we can remove them off. Please tell us your location and we will see if we can help.

To help clarify for BobV, others and of course Madhan.

The power lead pushes into the side two pin unit. This unit originally (if memory serves me right) comes in the packaging and slides onto the plug itself. Unknown to me however, was that this 'slide on' unit is in two main parts. I pulled out the power lead itself and the outer unit came off, complete with the male two pin connector within, which are wired to the two thin metal connectors that connect to the electrical terminals in the plug housing.

The second part of the connector unit was still attached to the plug body! I tried to line the thin metal connectors and slot them back in place. They of course buckled. Had I known that the second part of the unit did come away from the body, I may have been able to assemble the unit correctly, Hence my admittance to being 'heavy handed' and therefore offering payment to Codelathe.

The point of my email is that I believe that the slide on unit should be a permanent, solid part of the plug body or glued in place if economics of production prevent otherwise.

The Tonidoplug2 is a great piece of kit, as was the first one I bought. I just want others to take care when removing the power lead. As I stated, a liberal application of insulating tape will do the job.

Regards,

Teeleef
