Shorewall does not work and crashes with this error

Code:
ERROR: Your kernel/iptables do not include state match support. No version of Shorewall will run on this system

Also,
Code:
#uname -srv
Linux 2.6.31.8-topkick1281p2-001-004-20101214 #1 Thu Jun 16 10:06:20 CST 2011

Anyone else have this issue?

Apologies if I should have made a new thread, but I'm running into the same issue. I'm following this http://www.tonido.com/communitywiki/doku.php?id=advanceduses:installshorewall tutorial, and I've installed and reinstalled from apt-get. Do I have some sort of anomaly? or did anybody actually get it to work?

I had the same experience as the previous posters.

ERROR: Your kernel/iptables do not include state match support. No version of Shorewall will run on this system

(as a 99% linux noob) I think this has something to do with the fact that the Tonidoplug2 has a Debian Squeeze kernel with "missing" modules compared to the "vanilla" kernel.

I could not get openswan to work because of similar/same problems.

Pity.

:(

If this is the case, someone with the proper privileges should remove or append that wiki page :(

further, I was directed to it from this page http://www.tonido.com/communitywiki/doku.php?id=start#software_installations

I'd love to see it updated with proper firewall instructions

Some instructions in the Wili are for Tonidoplug 1 (with Ubuntu), some work for Tonidoplug 2 (with Debian Squeeze) and some work for both.

The problem is that it is not always clear.

That wiki is community maintained, so feel free to weed out incorrect information.

I really like my Tonidoplu2 and the things it can do.

Once i'm somewhat less of a noob I just might do that. :)

In the meantime i will keep track of my findings and search for the in my humble opinion correct information.

@madhan is it true that not all Debian Squeeze modules and stuff are implemented in the tonidoplu2 Debian kernel? Is there a "full" kernel available? I'm still way too much of a noob to compile my own :(

Sorry, we don't have a kernel with all modules compiled in. It would be too much for the resources of the plug.
