Mounted on OSX as local drive but have permission problems

Postby palanmcmahon » Thu Mar 29, 2012 6:37 pm

I've mounted my Webshare folder a local drive on OSX, but when I try to delete/add files to the folder, Finder asks me for a username/password. I enter my OSX username/password, but I get the error message "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." If I enter the username/password I gave when setting up the folder, I still get the error. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

I'm using Lion. I've got no problem with Linux - the WebDav connection just asks me for the server, the folder and my Tonidoplug username and password, and it mounts locally and allows me to remove/move files as I please. OSX however comes up with this request for username/password, and whether I give my local un/pwd or the Tonidoplug one, it refuses to let me make changes.

I've identified another problem, which might be related. The Tonido app for OSX asks me to sign into oldname.tonidoplug.com, whereas I'm now set up with newname.tonidoplug.com. This might explain the access problem. How do I erase any reference to oldname.tonidoplug/com?

We don't know how to erasing reference from Mac OSX. Maybe there is some option somewhere, but you just have to create a new connection with your new name.

Easier suggested than done. Even if I remove the Tonido app and re-install it, it has remembered oldname.tonidoid.com. Tonidoid app for OSX, if you'll forgive me for saying so, your app, so you might be best placed to provide an answer to this!

If I remove the Tonido app, re-start and re-install it, the installation process invites me to log in to oldname. I'm not a Mac head, but I do know my way round Linux, and this suggests to me that the Tonido app is picking up its info, if not from your server, then from a locally-cached config file. You (and forgive me, but you are a Tonido adviser) must know why that is occurring. There's no point in me asking Apple, as they are only interested in promoting iCloud. Therefore I rely on Tonido support to tell me what the problem is!

Stop Tonido.app.

Open terminal, go to your home (or just hit cd) and remove the folder "tonido"

Start Tonido.app and it will now ask you to create a new profile.

Ok, thanks. That's good advice because it's now gotten rid of the oldname.tonidoid.com.

However, I've still got a problem, because if I try to mount locally, I get a 'theres a problem connecting to the server' message, which adds (on certain occasions) the message that it can't connect more than one (instance of?) the user at once. Is that because the same user has it mounted on another machine? If so, what is the way round it? Can I not be logged on from two machines simultaneously?

Are you trying to use the same name running on two different machines?
That really won't work at all.
