After following my new Tonidoplug 2 Quick Start Guide, everything was going fine until I clicked on Tonidoplug Admin. I was asked to enter in a new username and password, which I did, but now I can not get back in. The Login screen still has "root" greyed out for some reason and wont allow me to enter the new Username. Neither my new password nor the default "nosoup4u" work. I did download the password rest file, installed it on a few different USB drives, but nothing seems to work.

The first time you opened the plug, you setup a new password (default was 'nosoup4u') you will be prompted to change the password to something else.

This is different from the Tonido User account.

So you have trouble logging into the plug admin only right? not to the Tonido account?

Right, I am only having trouble getting into the Admin login. After entering the "new" username (default "root") and "new" password (default nosoup4u) the screen refreshed, and sent me back to the Login screen. I couldn't enter my new username because root is greyed out in the Username box and neither password works.

Plug Admin's username is "root" and you *cannot* change it.
You cannot login into the Plug's Admin interface with your tonido account.

We will have to see how to recover your plug admin;s password, but you are fine with using TonidoPlug's tonido interface to browse, share your files etc for now?

For now, I guess I can use the Tonidoplug 2 the way it is because everything else seems to be working fine but I was hoping to set it up wireless. I just got it and plugged it in this morning. I have used the software before and waited for the Tonidoplug 2 to come out but it seems there are still a few bugs to be worked out. Is there any way to reset everything to factory defaults? I did download the software to reset the Admin password and tried it on a few different USB drives, but that didn't work either.

I'm having a similar issue. Got a brand new tonidoplug, got my tonido account set up, logged in, set my root password. I had a drobo connected via usb and upon trying to access it the tonido became unresponsive. Every time I hit a page, it'd time out and say the server must be down but if I refreshed the home screen came up. After waiting 15 min and not seeing that behavior go away I power cycled the plug.

I then updated the Tonido software, thinking maybe its a now resolved bug, updated apps, and installed some apps. I tried getting back into tonido admin and I got Invalid login/password. (unless I seriously miskeyed both password and confirm password box, I'm 99.999% sure I am entering the password I had just set)

I tried the nosoup4u password, didn't work either. So I followed the reset instructions with a USB thumbdrive, that didn't work after waiting a few minutes, so I took the usb drive and reformatted it clean with FAT filesystem and put it back into the drive with the reset folder, still nothing.

I can navigate into USB Drives and see the /tonido/autoexe/resetPassword.sh file showing up in the tonido login, but it isn't resetting the root password. I can't get into tonido admin or ssh with the default pw.

Since this is a brand new tonido, I'm ok reflashing the unit to factory default but I can only find old instructions on doing so and don't want to make things worse. Anything else I can try?

If you have access to tonido web UI, please install tonido shell application. Once you install that, launch the app and it will should bring a command line interface. At the prompt you can change the password using the command:

 # passwd

After changing the password, please ensure you can login to the plug via SSH.
I will let you know the steps to fix the plugadmin login.

Hi sorry for the extreme delay in reply - reply notification must've ended up in junk and I missed it.

Installed the shell app, I had to resume all apps after installing (it had stopped everything) and then when clicking on the Shell on the left bar I get:

The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

This is in Firefox 9 (Safari 5.0.6 and FF 3.0 also didn't work)

Can't find a restart button, assuming its in admin that I can't get to, should I power cycle the plug?

You can disconnect the power cord. Wait for 30 seconds and connect the back the power to the plug.
If you are not using the plug, it shouldn't affect the disk.
