I have a network attached storage drive (linux based) http://www.trittontechnologies.com/products/TRINSS250.htm that uses samba to share folders etc. The Tonido music app drive lists all the songs on the share but when I play them I get a "Buffering..." message for a while and then the message:

"Song not found!
Unable to play song!"

Similar situation with the photo application in Tonido - the share on the NAS loads the number of files in a folder as follows:

"Checking New Shared Folder...

SubFolders: 0
Files: 59
Size: 0 B

Press 'Ok' to share this folder? "

But clicking OK gives this error alert:

"Failed to add Shared Folder.
Check if the Folder exists and is valid!"

Tonido is useless for me if I can't connect to the NAS share properly. Please help.

Are you on Windows? There is a known issue with Photos and NAS drives, we are looking into it.

Jukebox should work. For example, I run my jukebox off songs off a NAS.
You have the drive mapped right to a drive letter right?
Make sure that you can open the drive without the User Permissions prompt showing up.

There is one possibility. Tonido runs as low privilege process, maybe it is not able to access the mapped drive due to it.

Could you try this?
1) shutdown tonido
2) Go to %APPDATA%\tonido directory and start tonido by double-clicking tonido.exe
3) Now login and see if you can play the song.

Let us know.

Wow! I am impressed by the quick response :)

Running Windows Vista. Tried everything you suggested. Still no joy :(

It's going after the songs on the NAS. It lists them in the Tonido collection, it is getting and displaying the ID3 tag info in the song list window in Tonido, but when I play a song it still says Buffering ...and then after a minute or more Unable to access selected song.

I tried using the UNC path to the share, the mapped drive letter, Tonido.exe from %appdata% folder, Run as Admin etc.

I have been looking for an app like this to share music/photos with my family, hope you can get this figured out soon.

Thanks

Hey csharpie.
Can you please upload the log file %APPDATA%\tonido\data\logs\tonido.log
1) If you goto Start->Run->Type %APPDATA%\tonido\data\logs in the prompt box. Press enter.
Explorer window opens with Tonido log directory.
2) Upload the tonido.log file here.

We will take a look at it.

Thanks
