Further to my other problems with uploading, I'm unable to upload via WebsharePro shared files.

The following error is reported:
Quote:
Tonido WebShare was unable to find the page you are looking for.
This could be due to a number of reasons:

The share does not exist
The share might have been removed
The share might have expired
Tonido WebShare plugin was unable to complete the request because of an internal error

I've set up shared files in WebsharePro, unticked Allow Everyone access and added a couple of users to have access, ticked Allow Upload for them and the error above is the result of what I get when I try to upload a simple text file.

Why, oh why, oh why?

It is likely the same reason that normal upload doesn't work.
There is a problem with the flash uploader.
Is your flash the latest version installed on the client machine? You might want to update it. Also, make sure there are no policies or firewalls that could interfere with the upload.

I am sorry it doesn't work for you. If this was a general issue, I would be able to give you precise reasons why it doesn't work. But we aren't aware of any.

If the plug is not working out for you, please return it for a refund.

Does the Webshare upload method use the same Flash uploader method or is it a different means?

As it stands, we don't have Flash installed on these systems. I'd have to enquire as to whether we could put it on them.

Thanks

Yes, it uses flash.
If you don't have flash installed, the upload is not going to work via WebsharePro and unlike explorer, there is no alternate upload mechanism.

There's another feature request for you. Change Tonido WebsharePro and Explorer to gracefully revert to ole HTML uploading if Flash is unavailable.

An alternative is using a WebDAV client like WebDrive and BitKinex connecting to your WebSharePro share, if that's an option in your environment.

Thanks guys.

Okay. Just for clarity, what software would I need to install for this to work? Is it Adobe Flash Player?

Thanks

Correct, you need Adobe Flash installed on the machine from which you are uploading to the plug.

Tonido software has been updated (which seems to have sorted a lot) and Flash has been installed/updated and this is working now, which is great, and a great relief!

I've not fully tested it, but it seems logging out but not closing the browser (IE8) may still allow someone to navigate back the share address and continue to upload/download. Closing the browser may also keep the user logged. As I say, I've not fully tested it, but just letting you know.

Thanks

One other thing. The URL address to naviagate to a shared folder seems to be case sensitive. This seems pretty unusual.

<accountname>.tonidoid.com/app/websharepro/share/folder/ might not work where <accountname>.tonidoid.com/app/websharepro/share/Folder/ would. This might trip up some users (and also can be a bit of a pain if you use the history in the browser address dropdown and it's all in lowercase)

Otherwise, I look forward to being able to hand this over and for us to get using it!

Thanks for your help and patience.

Regarding my message as above Posted: Wed Apr 06, 2011 6:12 am, if I'm right about this then it could pose a pretty serious security risk depending on where a user might access from given that all that is needed is a web browser.

I think this is an issue with the local security settings of the system? If so, which?

Thanks
