So what is the transfer speed one can expect on the same LAN with relaying disabled? Backing up 15 Gb of data on the same LAN took me about 6 hours! What is the typical backup window for you guys for each Gb of data?

Backup works on every chunk of data in a file and is far slower than just transferring the file over a network. So your speed that you are quoting, doesn't surprise me.

Future backups over the same files will be much faster, as it only transfers modified chunks of files.

Ok. Thanks for that info. Couple of questions.

I want to backup files from my Tonidoplug to my PC running Tonido.

Do I have to create a new profile for each device I run Tondio on? Cant I use the same profile for the plug and my pc?

When running Tonido on Windows, what is the user account Tonido runs under?

Yes, you have to create new account per device.

It is the user account you run as.

I'm backing up from a Mac to a TonidoPlug on the same wired LAN. The network utilization being reported on the Mac is averaging around 30KB/s with peaks to 60KB/s. Is this expected?

The CPU utilization on the Mac pretty high during this it's using ~90% of a core. Is that expected?

Edit: Looking deeper at the network statistics reported by the Mac, it looks like every several seconds there is a burst of data transferred at the bandwidth graph jumps up to 1MB/s.

It is expected, as backup is chunky and transfers chunks at one time.
