During an upload by a guest user, the process stopped I could not even get into the server without powering down. When I got the server rebooted, I checked the hard drive attached to the tonidoid plug. According to the server, all of the non-system folders that I had previously created and used had disappeared. All the system folders (photo, thot... were there) HOWEVER, when I detached the drive and attached it directly to my computer the folders are still there.

What happened?
Why are the folders not recognised by the server, even though they are there?
How can I get the folders recognised again?
How can I prevent such a disappearing occurrence again?

This sounds a little like zapnoid's issue posted in the Tonido Support forum.

I tried repeated unplugging and replugging. Nothing changed. The disappeared folders are still gone.

UPDATE: I disconnected the HDD from the plug (again) and connected it to my computer. I deleted a couple of files in the recycle bin. Plugged it back in and now the folders are showing again.

Glad it is working again, but don't like the unreliability of the system.

I think I may have figured out the problem (or one of my problems). I did a chkdsk on the drive and it had errors. (WD5000BEVT) I corrected the errors and tried again. It worked for a bit, I did another chkdsk and it had more errors. When I used the drive attached to a windows machine, it always listed the files without errors. It never gave problems, but I never checked the drive either.

I don't know if the errors are caused by the drive being bad or TonidoidPlug messing with it or a combination of the above. But I am hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I had tested the drive attached to a windows machine before and it had worked fine, so gave the false impression that the drive was OK. However in reality it continued to get chkdsk errors. After removing the errors, it would work for a while, then more errors... Hair loss accelerated.

Found the chkdsk solution on this forum. I had found it before too, but hadn't read it carefully.

I reformatted the drive. Now more than a week later, no problems - stable as can be. Now I am finally appreciating the use of the plug as a useful tool rather than an experimental toy.
