Here are the results of my tests:

Windows XP Pro SP3:
- Manual application startup: ok, mount point window is shown.
- Mount point override (Q:): ok
- Run at start up (Q: mount point): ok, mount point window is not shown.
- Open drive (Q:): ok
- Open drive (Q:, network disconnected): ok, actually drive shows cache contents.
- Clear cache: ok
- Clear cache (Q:, network disconnected): ok
- Reconnect (Q:): ok
- Reconnect (Q:, network disconnected): unexpected, the following message is shown

Image

- Use an invalid expression as <mountpointoverride> value ('1:', 'AA', ':'): unexpected, network drive is not mounted, but there is no message about it.

- Use an existing mount point (C:): ok, the following message is shown, and then the settings window is presented.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit:
Same results as on Windows XP, except:
- Open drive (Q:): ko, didn't open any Windows Explorer window.
- Open drive (Q:, network disconnected): ko, didn't open any Windows Explorer window.

Some suggestions:
At startup, the application shows the splash screen 'Mounting TonidoDrive...'. I remember that some users on the forum found it a little bit annoying. Maybe that should be taken into account.

When network is disconnected, there is no visual notification about it. Maybe a different icon or a pop-up balloon could be used.

Interestingly, with that fix version I don't need to exit Tonido Drive before shutting down Windows 7. There were no more memory errors. Windows XP keeps failing on that, though.

Hope this helps you to improve Tonido Drive.

wow. thanks again for the detailed info. I will update code with this info.

The exit stuff during shutdown is flaky still. I works and soemtime it throws that error in my XP VM. Still trying to figure out what is not getting unloaded since we do unmount the drive (no registries are kept open).

The override for mount point was pretty basic because we are not expecting most of the users to override it. but it makes sense to validate the mount point as well.

The reconnect error is unexpected. I will look into that as well.

Thanks and Regards

I think I have the code for checking the validity of the mount point override added. I will upload another test version soon and let you play with it. Thanks for the help. Let me know if you see any other issues as well!
