Here's another bug for you to work on when you get some free time. HA!

If I shutdown my computer without first exiting the Tonido Drive application it
generates a memory write error:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
TonidoDrive.exe - Application error

The instruction at 0x77492239 referenced memory at 0x00000014. The memory
could not be written.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The system stops the shutdown until I click the OK button. Also, when
I restart the computer later, all the applications are in the SUSPEND state
and I have to resume them before I can reconnect the Tonido Drive app.

I am using TonidoDrive with a TonidoPlug Ver #1

Hope this helps,

Stephen

Thanks for reporting!,
Can you give us some info?

is this Windows XP or Windows 7 (I dont have any issues on both Windows XP or 7 when I shutdown or hibernate. Infact I havent exited the app in sometime).?

Can you give take a look at the log file %APPDATA%/TonidoDrive/data/Tonidodrive.log and see if there is any problem reported there ?
Thanks

Hi guys,

This also happens for me. It looks like the program don't get told the pc is shutting down and crashes when it starts to close then kicks out this error message.

Hello,

Same application error here if I shutdown my computers without first exiting Tonido Drive.

I did some testing with the following scenario:
-Tonido Server: desktop with Windows XP SP3 fully up to date.
-Client A: laptop with Windows 7 fully up to date, using wifi and ethernet connections alternatively. Tonido Sync is also installed.
-Client B: desktop with Windows XP SP3 fully up to date, using ethernet connection.

Results were:
Windows 7:
Tonido Drive causes memory error whenever the computer is restarted or shut down, or when user session is closed. However, suspend/hibernate and resume worked fine.
Tests showed the same results using wifi and ethernet connections.
Also, using Sync at the same time as Drive or stopping it didn't seem to change anything.

Windows XP:
Tonido Drive causes the following error whenever the computer is restarted or shut down, or when user session is closed:
Quote:
dwwin.exe - DLL initialization error
The application failed to initialize because the window station is shutting down.

After dismissing the error message box, the restarting process stopped and I had to restart the computer with the reset button.

Having a look at Windows Event Viewer logs, I found some warning messages that didn't appear before installing Tonido Drive. Their Event Ids are 1530 (for Windows 7), 1517 and 1524 (for Windows XP). According to Microsoft online suport they are related to shutdown problems caused by user profile unloading errors:
Quote:
When you try to log off your computer, you cannot log off, or event messages that are logged in the Application log indicate that the user profile was not unloaded. This problem may occur if Microsoft Windows or third-party programs do not stop running when you try to log off your computer

Please, check this link for further info: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837115

Maybe Tonido Drive is leaving some registry keys open when Windows requests it to shut down? Or these keys are open when Windows shuts down because Tonido Drive is still running?

Hope this info helps in finding a quick fix.

BTW, I attach the log files for my laptop and desktop test computers.

Regards,
