I have Sync installed on plug, and client installed on Desktop - both running latest version v2.34.0.15964.

In the default sync folder on the plug (/media/disk1part1/User_Data_Dir/TonidoSync) I made several changes by adding/removing files. Its been several hours and the client on my PC has not picked up the changes. On my PC I added some random changes (added a few empty files) and within a couple minutes I could see the changes I made on the PC uploaded to the plug. So basically, upload works (from client side), but download is either broken or delayed. I looked in the log file and it shows the client app checking every 2 minutes for changes but never seems to pick up the changes from the plug. I also check the TonidoLog on the plug and it also shows the plug checking for changes but never sees my changes.

If I suspend then resume the plugin, everything syncs up properly...so basically sync seems to work fine in one direction only. Am I misunderstanding the way this is suppose to work? With DropBox, if I use the web app to upload/delete/rename etc a file I see this right away in my PC clients.

* Also, can you add a Refresh button to the 'Recent Sync Activity' dialog (client) and the list in the Tonido Sync tab.

Sync should work both ways.
To see what the problem is on the Plug.

1. Change the log level to trace on the plug
2. Copy a few files into the Plug's sync directory
3. Wait for 5 minutes
4. Post the tonido.log file

We will add a refresh for the activity list.

Did the following on the plug:
1. I renamed a file called 'newfile.txt' to 'newfile1.txt'
2. I then created 4 additional files: newfile2...newfile5.txt

Haven't seen the update on the client side yet, and the plug's activity list don't show any of the above changes.

I see these 4 files, created but no detection by TonidoSync as new files.

Did you upload these files into the directory?
What type of drive is connected to the plug, FAT, NTFS, EXT3? and is it a USB or a SATA?

I am using a USB drive, formatted as EXT3.

From another laptop which does not have the sync client, I used the Tonido web UI to rename newfile1. Then I used the web ui upload tool to upload the 4 other files. For good measure, I just browsed to the network share and created another new file in the sync directory - still nothing.

OK. You say that if you suspend and re-enable Sync plugin then these files are detected and synced?

I think the problem is that tonido sync is not getting directory modified events from the storage. It is not clear why that would be the case. We will check.

Is your TonidoPlug2 running standard software or are you booting from USB, installed anything outside the standard software.

I'm using the original Tonidoplug - not 2. And I am also booting from a powered USB HDD, sorry I failed to mention that earlier. Tonido is installed on a 64Gb boot partition, and my data resides on a separate partition (which mounts to disk1part1) - both EXT3 format. I have the following programs (and necessary dependencies) installed on the boot partition in addition to the Tonido software:

webmin
lighttpd
git

I don't know if that should make any difference. Anyway we will have to check with the TonidoPlug1.

I think I've figured out what's going on...or at least a workaround.

Initially I've been modifying files several folders deeper than the sync directory: /media/disk1part1/User_Data_Direcytor/TonidoSync/dir1/dir2/ where TonidoSync is the default sync folder.

If I make a change only in dir2, it never gets synced unless I restart the app. However, It appears that if I add/del/mod a file in either TonidoSync or TonidoSync/dir1, then the changes will sync properly within a couple minutes - including the sub-directories such as dir2. So what I think is happening is that changes deeper than 1 sub-directory of the sync folder are not being monitored for file system changes. Here I'm calling dir1 a level 1 folder, dir2 a level 2 folder relative to the main sync folder.

So the obvious workaround here is you can't have more than 1 sub-directory under the sync folder...is this a limitation of the current version?

Hope that wasn't too confusing, and hopefully provides a useful clue as to whats going on. And thanks for the plans to add the Refresh button BTW.

Thanks for the note. We will check that.
