I hope somone may be able to help here.

I have a laptop that will not sync with the server for love nor money. It was syncing fine untill i made a change to the default location on the debian server which is now media/TonidoSync. On the home network the sync works absolutly fine and so does the phone and the android tablet when its remote.

The problem lies with the laptop on the works network does not the sse the content that requires syncing which is a round 9Gb I understand this may take a while when it does sync but the laptop shows 0b and 0 files continuously

what ive done so far.

Reset all sync data
reset the home router (possible crash on the port)
rebooted the home server.
removed tonidosync.exe
removed all references to tonidosync in files/folders and the register library
rebooted the laptop (windows 7)
reinstalled TonidoSync using defaults
added a program rule for the firewall for 10001 (tcp and udp)

and with all this it still doesnt work (i would expect to see the status register the content waiting to be synced. ive given the log file of the client since the re-install - IT HAS ME BAFFLED (to the point of despair)
BTW - Ive also installed it on a windows XP machine (virtual machine on the same laptop) and shows the same symptoms.

any help would seriously be appreciated.

My only thoughts are theres a problem with the connection at work, or the server has an issue with syncing remotely !!!

I would also like to add, since getting back home. I've now stopped the tonido server on the debian server, removed all folders (except the existing sync folder which is is a custom location). Ive reinstalled the tonido server service and modify serversyncconfig.xml file to point at the custom location.

Since the reinstall, I now have the service back running and can see the sync folder content on the GUI. The home PC (W7) is syncing but I cannot get any other client to sync, they will connect and authenticate but will not detect the content. I've also installed the sync software on a netbook runnning windows 7 and Ive had no joy.

Is there an option I need to enable within configex.xml in order for it to detect other clients ?
Im completely out of ideas, is there a bug with 2.53?

ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

Continuing this post, has anyone seen issues with clients syncing to the seerver since moving to V2.53 or changing the default sync location on the server, as most of the problems occured after this ?

Also, after further investigation of the the linux install, the config files were wrote to /root/tonido and not /home/tonido as discussed in the support documentation. What imapct (if any) would this have apart from possible permission issues ?

This came about because I used 'su' to install the package as the user wuld not allow the install, which intheory would of placed the files in the home directory.

Thankyou for coming back to me. After days of tearing my hair out endless client and server reinstalls. Ive abandoned mission on trying to correct the problem. In the end I setup the desktop software on a temporary windows based machine to act as a temporary server for Tonido and stopped the debian based server.

My debian server is about to be replaced in a couple of weeks anyway as I've out grown it and it needs to be upgraded.

I put the fault down to something mysterious within the debian installation. Originally I accidently installed the desktop and sync client on the server and the client machine (together) which got me completly muddled up to begin with, since then its always been difficult to get more than one machine syncing in unison, as soon as I moved the desktop software from the debian server to another machine the two sync clients Im currently working with appears to work and functioning correctly.
