Hi,

I have just installed Tonido and all is working fine, right upto the point I wanted to install 'Tonido Sync' on my macbook air which is running 10.7.2

I open the dmg file and drag the tonidosync into the applications folder and launch it.

Then I get an error message 'Warning - Failed to create required data directories. Exiting Application'

I have done a check on the drive and all permissions are ok. Also I tested by creating a new user and it also failed to install in that account as well.

Has anybody seen this problem before?

Thanks

Nate

We don't have a OSX 10.7 system, we only have 10.6 and we just tried installing it fresh and we didn't see this problem.

Tonido tries to create these folders when it starts.
Is something stopping it?

It creates the folders at

/Users/<name>/TonidoSync

and

/Users/<name>/TonidoSyncData/client

You could try after creating these folders manually.

I have osx 7.2 lion and did not have a problem installing the software at all on two macbook pros (one ancient) and a new imac. I would run the [verify disk permissions] more then once from the applications > utilities -> disk utility.app. I have seen a number of posts where this fixes near random app problems.

I saw this on a friends machine we tried to set up the sync client to test it out with (he logging in as a guest user) .. well turns out .. he used the apple migration utility to transfer his macbook pro user account to his iMac and somehow the user account it created on the iMac was NOT OWNED by the user it was intended for.. so please check the directory ownership of the user home directory in question make sure the right people own the home folders..
