not a separate client. It is controlled in the server.
See (7) in viewtopic.php?f=55&t=3335 on why we limit Sync.

Also please note we don't offer a separate product for non-capped non-relay option.

Sorry for asking again: I understand with relay tonido server is used. But as someone else in this thread was confused after your answer I`m still confused because you said you can sync even when tonido is not around and when you are able to forward the port from tonido. But then again the limit pops up.
Or are you saying it is possible but not at this time? Because its not implemented yet.

The sync limit is implemented on your installed Tonido Desktop Software/Plug and is irrespective of whether you are syncing via our servers or directly.

That's what I ment when I spoke about hardcoded in the software.
Thank you for answering.

Hello,

I just wanted to add my support for a pay-once, uncapped, non-relayed option. If the sync cap is stored on the server, surely a policy specifying "don't use tonidoid.com" could be, too.

Background: I'm after a self-hosted, unlimited, non-subscription alternative to Dropbox.

Cheers,
Simon

It's all about syncing. Dropbox is really nice and skydrive seems to work pretty good now with their new stuff. I have 42 gb of photos. That doesn't leave me much room. Tonido has a huge amount of potential. That cap has to come off. Is it a problem within the sync software? If we aren't using your relay service it shouldn't matter otherwise.

Yes, we limit it when we go through the servers.
But realistically, there is also some limits to the general system performance.
For example it is in feasible to sync Terabytes of data local or otherwise with hundred thousand files.

I'm new around here, so mean no disrespect, but there's a big difference between a 2GB cap and "Terabytes of data local or otherwise with hundred thousand files"

Just sayin
