Hi all,

first thanks for making a great product! I'm using the latest Windows/MAC Tonido 2.35 and my collection consists mostly of M4A Apple Lossless and FLAC tracks.

Playing these on the web client, the jukebox and the iOS client they all sound like 56k transcoded, NO MATTER what the settings are. Obviously this is hardcoded somewhere.

This happens on all Local, Remote or 3G connections.

How can i fix this and force a certain (higher) bitrate? Is it possible to not transcode M4A Lossless at all in the iOS client ? iOS can handle M4A natively and my network connection is fast enough on both WIFI and 3G.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

We transcode to lower bit rates so playback is smooth even over low bandwidth connections. Regarding native playback on iOS, I will let our iOS guy answer that.

We are aware of this issue and is currently a limitation. We will be working on providing higher quality transcodes or native playback in future.

Ok, thanks for clarifying this.

Although in the jukebox app there are separate settings for local/remote (regarding smoothness of playback over slow connections) and i do not understand what difference it makes transcoding an mp3 file to 128kbit or a lossless file to 128kbit, beeing that mp3 transcoding already works fine.

Anyway, keep up the good work and please let us know when this issue is resolved.

P.S.: As a reference see also http://www.tonido.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=2945.

The main issue has been to optimize for transcoding it on the fly in low power CPUs.
We have already started to look at providing the support for the issue you have listed (i.e allow raw data to be sent to ios on formats that are natively supported).

So we hope to have support for this soon.
