No idea if this works, but HFS+ support should work.

Just SSH in and run:

Code:
cd /lib/modules/2.6.30-rc6/kernel/fs/
mkdir - p hfsplus
cd hfsplus
wget http://localhostr.com/files/abb292/hfsplus.ko
insmod hfsplus.ko

It loaded successfully on my TonidoPlug but I don't have an HFS+ drive to test it with. Might need some more stuff but this is the core kernel driver.

Can someone try it out and post back?

Edit: The .ko file is just a Linux kernel module I found in the 2.6.30-rc6 kernel modules package at sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva. There are hundreds of modules in the modules package that you can probably use!

Someone on Twitter said that HFS+ drives now work, but only when mounted manually through SSH, not from the Tonido interface. It's a step forward though!

will try that tonight... hopefully tonidoplug can mount a HFS+ drive larger than 2TB.

How did it go? It mounted an HFS+ drive for me and I was able to use it with Tonido. I just had to manually mount it using the "mount" command in SSH.

all my drives are larger than 2TB... so it didn't work.
waiting for a recompile of the kernel... it needs to support large block size devices.

very disappointed. :?

Hi there! I went ahead and ran these commands. I was able to mount the HFS+ partition on my drive, but I cannot do anything on it. For example when I run the mkdir command it says the file system is read only. Do I have to do something special to make it writable?

It might be because the HFS drive wasn't ejected properly (Linux is picky about that). The fsck.hfs filesystem checker doesn't exist on TonidoPlug yet, so try polugging your drive back into Mac OS X, running Disk Utility to Repair Disk, eject the disk, and pluggin it back in.

OR

1. SSH in to the TonidoPlug

2. mkdir -p /var/cache/apt/archives/partial

3. apt-get update && apt-get install hfsprogs # Answer yes

4. fsck.hfsplus /dev/sda1 # Or whatever the drive is called

5. Try mounting it again.

I may try this however I had to format as NTFS in order to use the drive last night. However I did some reading and found that HFS+ drives with Journaling still don't work well in Linux systems. I can't remember where I saw it, but they said that if the drive has Journaling it will end up as Read Only when it gets mounted. If you format as HFS+ without Journaling (no Time Machine backups on OSX) then it SHOULD work.

Just a thought.
