noip how to install?

I thought it be easy like:

apt-get install noip2

But it can't find it.

I looked on line and did a wget for noip_2.1.9.1_arm.ipk

Used Webmin to install it but it says:

"Failed to install package : Not a valid compressed or gzipped Debian DPKG file"

Has any one got noip2 to install on there Tonidoplug 2 and if so how?

To show what I was doing and then came here for help my commands I did were:

apt-get install noip
apt-get install noip2
mkdir noip && cd noip
wget http://www.no-ip.com/client/linux/noip-duc-linux.tar.gz
tar zvxf noip-duc-linux.tar.gz
cd noip-2.1.9-1/
make
apt-get install make
make
ls binaries
cp binaries/noip2-i686 ./noip2
make install
cd binaries
cd ..
cp binaries/noip2-i686 ./noip2
make install
apt-get install noip-2.1.9-1_arm.ipk
wget http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/cs05q1armel/cross/stable/noip_2.1.9-1_arm.ipk
rm -rf noip-2.1.9-1/

So I gave up there and came here looking if any one else has install noip2 and looks like no one else has. So I hope some one can help me.

noip does not appear to be in the the Debian Squeeze repository. It was in Lenny and may be in Sid:

It looks like you're on the right track with building it yourself. I'll take a closer look later.
Make sure you install the necessary build environment packages:

Thank you that last link I did and it was very easy to follow.

After that looks like the make command worked. It looks like this:

root@TonidoPlug2:/noip/noip-2.1.9-1# make
gcc -Wall -g -Dlinux -DPREFIX=\"/usr/local\" noip2.c -o noip2
root@TonidoPlug2:/noip/noip-2.1.9-1#

I got to test it out now to set it up.

Yes. It worked. After I did the "make" I had to do a "make install" then it just ran to ask my name and password.

A "noip2 -S" shows my host name and says this:

Updating every 30 minutes via /dev/eth0 with NAT enabled.
root@TonidoPlug2:/noip/noip-2.1.9-1#

It's working. Thank you!

I think that is the 1st time I ever did a make command. Never needed to before.

Because this was so easy can some one put it in so it will install with "apt-get install noip2" ?

To get it to work via apt-get, the complete, compiled binaries and associated files have to be available in a repository. The No-ip people haven't done that, and so far neither have the Debian maintainers for Squeeze, but you can ask them.

From what I've seen, it will probably be in the next Debian version.

As far as I know, the Tonido folks do not have a repository they make available to end users.
