I have installed transmission on my tonidoplug, but its been very slow. Speed never goes beyond 30 KB/s. I have forwarded port 51413 on my router, and configured iptables to allow that port. Still no luck.

The same torrent file downloads in excess of 200 KB/s on the torrent client included with the tonido plug, so its not my ISP or Internet bandwidth thats the cause.

Bump....

this issue usually arises if port is unopened... try changing the port and check externally if its all the way open or not

Yep. The ports are open all the way. Tested with canyouseeme.org and also a telnet ip:51413 from the local lan.

But transmission gui reports the ports are closed and I dont get more than 100 KBits.

Ok solved the issue by downloading the latest build and compiling it. Hitting the limits of my connection now. However, transmission gui still reports that the ports are closed :lol:

What are the advantages of Transmission over the original TP Torrent?

#1 reason i use it is because it has the ability to start torrents that are dropped in a watch directory. I use a program that auto downloads the torrent files after a show is available and drops it in that directory and transmission automatically downloads it.

it also always you to use an ip block list and encryption, its a more full featured client overall.

Nice, that is one feature I am definitely looking for. Does it also have the ability to automatically delete completed torrents? Also, how do you start it after install, does it appear in the regular Tonido interface as a link. And last, does Transmission have some kind of an Android app that lets you control downloads because right now I login via the browser and it is a bit uncomfortable. {sorry, still learning}

I will try installing as soon as my HDD arrives :)

part of the setup makes sure it automatically starts when the plug is turned on. it has it's own interface via a web browser and doesn't integrate with the plug's web interface. the web interface works from my iphone just fine.

Ok got it to install successfully :)
I have a question though, I was installing on a 16 GB USB drive, if I am to disconnect that drive and connect my other HDD I won't be able to use Transmission, correct?

That is correct, I have a USB hub plugged in so that my thumb drive is bootable and I also have a 2tb drive plugged in that transmission downloads to and is shared out on the network for my boxee boxes.
