Just out of curiosity, why did you go with PmWiki over DokuWiki?

Short answer...it worked and Doku didn't. I believe Doku was polling a feature not in the Tonido PHP install which would cause it to run very slow waiting for a timeout.

I was also lazy and didn't feel like hunting for the bug in Doku. I kind of shotgunned it. I installed Media Wiki (the one used by wikipedia), Doku, PmWiki, and a couple a small ones with a lot less features.

PmWiki worked pretty much straight out of the box, was pretty full featured, and I liked how easy it was to write extensions.

I have considered revisiting Doku again down the road when I get some time. But usually when it comes down to revisiting Doku or adding an awesome new feature to Tonido Shell, I usually go with the latter. Priorities I guess :).

Just a note about Tonido Shell, here in CodeLathe, the dev team uses Tonido shell pretty heavily, so your work is well appreciated. :-)

Glad to know :). Tonido Shell is a neat little hobby project where I get to try some fun stuff that is different from what I do in the firmware world. I also find it quite useful on the plug.

I think you guys will like the next version with Ace Editor embedded inside for syntax highlighted code editing (along with other nifty editor features).

I found this post and I thought "let's give it a try".

I have installed the PmWiki Plugin on:
1 - Linux Debian Wheezy on a intel atom 270
2 - Tonido desktop app for Linux i686
3 - plugin path is: /usr/local/tonido/plugins

Tonido works as expected. Other (small) plugins work as expected.
PmWiki Plugin cannot be launched (starts with a blank page; with my browser it closes again). So in effect is does not work.

My question is: should it work or should it work only on Tonidoplug 1 (and maybe 2)?
If so, I'm out of luck, but hey thats life
Then on with the next project.

I know it's a rather old topic, but any response is appreciated!

It is supposed to work on linux. I will try and test it out again on linux this weekend and provide the steps I did if it works.

Sometime in the next couple of months, I plan on syncing up with the latest PMWiki. So it is still an active project.

Great! Very interesting project!

I just thought of something, maybe it's a matter of user:group authorizations.

Do I need to install PmWiki Plugin as a specific user and or group for it to work?

Don't install as root. The Tonido app (which invokes the plugins) does not have root privileges on a Linux PC (on the plug it does). The folders and such need to be installed with the same permissions as the current user that Tonido uses. Since there are no binaries, I can't imagine there being an execution problem. The plugin will attempt to write some files and symlinks in the plugin folder, so it needs to be able to do that. It runs some shell commands to do that. You can try running some chmod commands on all of the directories and/or make sure the current user owns them.

I used to exclusively run my PC on Linux when I put the plugin together, and it worked fine at time of release. I am not currently running Linux regularly except on the plugs, so I haven't tested it recently.

If there is a Linux PC related issue with the plugin, I will provide a fix. If it is specific to your distro, it may be more difficult for me to reproduce.

Hopefully you are just having a "user" error, and we can just resolve it by correcting the install steps.

Hmm. There seems to be something wrong with Tonido, unless they changed something I am unawares of.

I opened the plugin in Ubuntu, and it was blank but it looked like the webpage was busy. After a long time, the web browser asked me if I wanted to download index.php. This clearly seems like Tonido is serving up the plugin wrong.

@madhan?
If you stumble on this thread, do you have any insight on this issue? I would assume if there was a manifest issue, the plugin just wouldn't appear in the sidebar. If there was a PHP issue, it would just throw a PHP error not cause the browser to try and download the php file. I haven't seen this kind of issue on the plug, but there is no real difference in how the plugin works on a linux PC vs a linux plug. I imagine that something specifically is off with the Tonido package for linux.
