The one thing i am missing on my plug is a mailserver.
I need to be able to retrieve my mail from my isp via pop3 and then make the mail via imap available to my computers. This keeps my mail nicely in sync and i never have to read or throw away mail twice.
It also has to be able to work with several emailaccounts, since i have several and my family has several as well.
I tried a few times to build one using several packages/programs, but i could not find a tutorial that actually worked in my setup.
Yesterday i came across Citadel (http://www.citadel.org). It is a full mailserver/calander/tasks/notes/contact manager in 1 package, but it can also retrieve mail via pop from an ISP. Cool, that is what i needed.
Setup is really easy, but since you are going to install packages you have to run your plug from usb.
I run debian on my plug but for ubuntu it should work as well. Go to http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/install ... asyinstall . Make sure you read the prerequisites first: http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/install ... ebian.html .
Configuring for users can be done via a webinterface. There is a well documented FAQ on their website.

Hello, how did you install debian on your tonidoplug? all the howtos I've seen online require a mini-USB and as far as I can tell that'd require opening the tonido case (which I'm not going to do).

thanks for any tips :-).

Look here, it is intended for squeezeboxserver, but if you don't install that, you have a nice all ready to go debian setup.
