I understand that to have better results in downloading torrents, you should port forward to the computer that you have the torrent application running on. Therefore, I would like to test that Tonido Torrent has an open port for Torrent communication.

What I did to test (may be incorrect):
1) windows command prompt> nslookup myname.tonidoid.com
2) Look in Tonido Torrent settings to see current port in use
2) use ip address and port from steps 1 & 2 to test port forwarding at the following website:
http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

The answer I get, is:
Port 6881 is closed on 66.135.41.200

Where 66.135.41.200, using reverse ip lookup, is postoffice2.codelathe.com

Is there a specific port I should be using?
Using a port scanner on the codelathe server, the only open ports are:
22 (ssh)
80 (www-http)
113 (auth)

WTF? Why use Tonido Torrent, if port forwarding isn't configured for it!

Tonido Torrent automatically portforwards Port 6881 if possible to the internal IP address of the computer on which Torrent is running on.

Torrent application ports have nothing to with accessing your tonido using http://<yourname>.tonidoid.com which does point to our servers, because obviously torrent is not running on our server but in your home.

Your test methodology is incorrect. To really test it, you need to give your testing app the actual WAN address of your router which you can find by going to say http://checkmyip.com

You can then do a port scan to see which ports are open for that address.

Darn. The whole point for which I tried out Tonido was that I hoped the torrent application was running on your servers (with port forwarding for it). I do not have control over port forwarding on my network.
