I don't know why tonido torrent download speed on my plug is very slow despite of high number of seeders (is it only me???). I've tried port-forwarding and UPnP but it is still slow. So I've managed to install Transmission on tonido (I'm booting from external HDD) and it's amazingly fast. All you gotta do is:
Code:
apt-get install transmission
nano /var/lib/transmission-daemon/info/settings.json

change these lines to specify download directory and allow all ip to use rpc:
Code:
"download-dir": "\/media\/usb0\/torrent",
"rpc-whitelist": "*.*.*.*",

and start transmission-daemon:
Code:
/etc/init.d/transmission-daemon start

Now you can go to http://tonidoplugip:9091 to use Web GUI
I prefer using http://code.google.com/p/transmisson-remote-gui/
Let me know if you get a higher download speed with Transmission :)
Here's the screenshot of how it looks like:

Great post Geeknam! It works. I did not test the speed yet, however I was under the impression that the "native" torrent app is significantly slower than what I get on my mac and this gives some hope. Installation of transmission went fine by following your directions.

Any chance you can provide some hint on how to install the transmission remote gui you mention? Not sure about how to go for it. Which one of the files should I download and how do install it?

Thanks a bunch,

Andrea

Done some testing, indeed transmit looks much faster than the tonido torrent app. Looking forward to see some improvements on the tonido app download speed, as I would very much prefer to use the device default torrent application instead of transmit.

As a tech note, I had to grant the /media/disk1part1/torrent directory a 777 permission to have transmit working. Before that, I had a "permission denied" error as soon as a torrent started downloading. disk1part1 is an Ext3 formatted esternal disk, should this matter.

Cheers - Andrea
