But ...

_ the seal on the box was opened already, (smells refurbished)

_ the protective plastic on the Tonidoplug2 is loosely set (does not help the above feeling)

So I logged using ssh and ...

_ the machine has log files from the 5th March which says, among other things, that somebody from France, (a client of orange.fr) connected to it. The connection was not even closed properly.

_ there are 22 "bad erasebloc" messages on the boot :

This smells "end-of-life" and I've got it one hour ago ...

And given the policy : "Please note that if you alter the TonidoPlug device software in anyway, you will void the warranty of the device."

How can I know that the device has not been altered in any way ? a.k.a I got a device void of warranty ... ?

Feedback/Advice ?

When the internal disk is manufactured, it contains certain number of bad blocks. These bad blocks will be marked when the UBIFS file system is created on the flash disk. The initial count will be in 20s. It won't grow after that. Normally it will be a block or two in a 2-3 year time frame. This is completely normal, so do not worry about this.

This means that, if you install any debian package in the internal flash then we cannot support the plug anymore. Having said that, you can always boot your plug from a USB device and install the packages you want.
