I am looking for a TP2 manual to help me trouble shoot my TP2. I need it to read for the "man on the street" and not for a novice programmer. I see a lot of help resolutions on this board that look something like this:

"to fix this just add this line in: (xyz lines of code for several paragraphs)"

or

"turn on your relay"

or

"configure your power management"

.....so I don't know what these things mean or how to do this. I could probably figure it out if I had the basic concepts laid out in a trouble shooting section within a manual, but as helpful as this board can be....it is still quite fragmented in terms when trying to find out basic functions of the system. Where is this mythical place where to enter in code? Do I as a non-programmer really need to be messing with this aspect of the system? What happens if it screws something up? What are the consequences of doing a factory reset? What should I know before I consider doing this?

I need some kind of concept diagram as to where the operating system is, how data is added to external hard drives, how the information is split between the TP and the attached drives? Something that explains the pros and cons of having an internal drive verses an external drive. For example, I face a lot of problems with one of my external drives because it powers down and somehow does not always start up when TP2 wants it to. I don't know how to configure its power management, and I don't know if I can manually move files from it to another attached drive nor do I know how that would affect how the TP2 when trying to access data. There is just no where that clearly explains the basic information parceling of the TP2 and the added hard drives. Is there a manual in the works?

The manual is here:
http://www.tonido.com/support/display/docs/Home

Most cases, logging and changing stuff inside is not required and only when
1. Advanced Users are changing their internals of the TonidoPlug
2. They are trying to do something that the TonidoPlug is incapable of doing

If you post the relevant problems, (you mentioned powering down of the drive as one), then someone will able to add pointers on how to solve them. If it really needs you to change some internal settings, you will be provided instructions for that too.
