I made a bootable flash drive, and it works flawless when booting from it, but since it's storage is limited I copied the image 1:1 to my external hard drive (with gparted so the bootup partitions and file system are 100% the same)

Now I get to the problem, when I boot from the usb disk, the system boots up rather fast, and as you some might know booting from internal flash = yellow + orange light and booting from external flash = white + orange light.

When I tried connecting the usb hdd, the lights stay white + orange for a few minutes, and then it boots from internal flash.

Since this time is so long, I think something is missing or going wrong.

Now my question is, how to figure out whats wrong? does the tonido make a log file of it's booting procedure? and if so what do I have to turn on / change to be able to see this?

How big is the external drive.
You need to have msdos partition table for the plug to boot. You cannot have a GPT partition table. GPT partition tables are generally used for larger HDD (partition size > 2TB).
You can connect the disk to the plug and check the partition table type.
Use this command "parted -s /dev/sda print".

It' s a 2.5" 160 GB in an external case.
Its a 100% clone of the usb stick, so I assume the boot partition is the same.

Anyway I will check it out tonight, thx for the fast response!

Code:
Disk /dev/sda: 160GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: msdos

Number  Start   End     Size    Type     File system  Flags
 1      1049kB  3676MB  3675MB  primary  ext3         boot

I am just wondering if the tonido makes any log or so when booting, so I can see what is going wrong. Or you have any other idea to check out whats the problem, that would be great to

Okay, after going through the boot options again, it came to mind that maybe I should make the boot time longer, this commands helps you do it. And it works now.

Code:
root=/dev/sda1 rootdelay=10
reboot

BUT it only works once, after I reboot my tonido again, it will fail booting from the disk again, and I have to ssh again and repeat the step above.

Is there any way, or root file to change the option on the originial tonido?

Rather than clone the usb, have you tried installing directly to the HD?

Well I am trying to get SqueezePlug with tonido to run on the tonidoplug.
Because I am so sick of the limitations of this shitty 9.04 ubuntu.

SqueezePlug with tonido is a complete debian package with tonido installed, the problem is.
The person that writes it delivers it as an .img file, wich can be installed on a thumb drive with USB Image Tool. Only this program doesn't support writing the image to an external usb hard drive.

Anyway there way of solving this was using gparted to clone the usb disk partition onto the external hard drive.

You may not need squeezeplug to run the logitech/squeeze media server.

This method works on a plug 2. I don't know about a v1: (see last 2 posts)

It was based on this method:

I didn't even installed the media server.
I just got this package because I can run Debian, and it has tonido pre installed.
